Indoor Hempy / Passive Hydro

There's another site I belong to that swears by this grow method. Do any of you know about the hempy, passive hydro setup? I had a few questions if anyone here grew with that method.

- I germinated in rapid rooters, should I place the rapid rooter directly into the perlite, and how long do I just keep them in rapid rooter without placing them into the perlite? Like should I see roots coming out of the rapid rooter before going into the small perlite cup?

I've seen people do it every way imaginable. Multiple cup method. Right into the hempy. Waiting until roots show through. Keep trying things and find out what resonates with you. There will be a method you and your ladies like most.

Leave them in the rapid rooters until you can see the root starting to poke through, be careful as the root can come out anywhere.
Also you may want to mix in some Vermiculite with the Perlite to help hold some water, Perlite on its own can dry out fast but it depends on your temps.

Just drop the Rapid Rooter into the perlite the plant will break it apart as it grows.

Ya thanks guys, I got it all setup. I made 5 hempy buckets, 2 of them are filled 2 inches with hydroton for the passive resiviour and the other 3 are filled with full perlite. I am doing a side by side test to see which medium is more effective for the passive resiviour. If anyone wants to see pics or wants a better explaination, just ask. I have this down pretty good now. Each bucket holds a 1 gallon resiviour. You use hydro nutes, feed once a week, and flush once a week, and that's it. Just make sure any perlite you use, wash it GOOD! That was the hardest part, washing/rinsing 25 gallons of perlite =/. FML. lol. Anywho, let me know if I can be of any assistance in this grow method. I've seen the results of this grow method and it is extremely impressive (3-4oz plants in 5 gallon buckets)

will be watching this one autotoker i also use hempy buckets 100% perlite. and i love them. not sure about the rapid rooter thing cause i use rockwool but i usually put my rockwool into cups as soon as its popped up above ground for a cpl days. my best auto in a 2gal 100% perlite hempy was a little more than 2and a half ozs.

Subbed. I too am a big fan of Hempy buckets. Simple and effective.

All hempy buckets made and filled with perlite. When using perlite make sure to rinse it throughly! I am running 5 hempy buckets, three of the buckets will be using hydroton up to the top of the hole/screen, and the other two buckets will be full perlite. I'm doing a side by side comparision to see which is better as a resiviour medium in hempy. xD

I have 4 Exodus Cheese and 1 Kandy Kush that I popped from seed in rapid rooters that are now 10 days old. They are currently residing in party cups using the same exact method just on a scaled down model. Once my Auto Cheese finish flushing, the five new plants will go into the 3x3 under a 400W MH to veg for a few weeks, then off to the flower tent! xD

I'll post some better pics in a few days.

If my usual 2.5 gallon or 1 gallon hempy grows are any indication of yield, you're in for a nice ride with those guys.
