If you are a complete noobie I would start with soiless mix DWC IMO is for when you mastered soilless mix first. That being said i have seen some first time grow with DWC that are amazing. I still use soiless mix and have been growing for 25 plus years. it is a more forgiving medium I would hone your craft first. Nutrients I would go with Advanced nutrients PH perfect and the hobbyist bundle These are just recommendations I hope this helps

Ahhh... The process begins! I was right here where you are almost a year ago! My 1st sprout appeared on 10/24 so maybe a bit less!
I would start with the tent. Get one sized for your space I and what you can afford. I choose from HTG, only cause I could pick one up locally. Vertical space can be a problem, pots and lights can cut down on your available vertical for growing. Pot 12" tall and light hag 12" minimum and your down 2 feet already!Remember you will need some space for the vent piping in and out of the tent.( I did not and it was a bit of an issue for a while). You can get started with a few CFLs and some soil and a smart pot. Research lighting for what will fit your budget and plan from that, the same with venting and odor control. By starting slowly and choosing wisely hopefully you don't end up with a growing pile of stuff you don't need or use!

I would 2nd that.i grew outdoors years ago,never a single issue could do no wrong.started indoors I was the worlds worst grower for almost a year,then things just clicked.
some people have green fingers.start with soil,encounter identify and solve some problems/issues first.if your confident afterwards then try other styles.

I agree with Fairlynew and the crew. I started backwards- ebb & flow hydro for the first two (one successful) photo runs, then started TLO soil with autos. The hardest part for me was getting used to leaving the soil to its created purpose. In hydro, you are constantly checking things, and a tweak shows up within an hour in the plant, i swaer. In soil, I find keeping it simple and less is more to be the way to go. That said, I did a run of DWC that rocked! My only challenge was keeping the nute/bucket from getting too hot- a common complaint, for sure.

If you want a compact grow, try

For a first grow, keep it simple and learn. You don't have to break world records at the first attempt.
Get the best lights you can afford. They will last an age.
Keep it simple. DWC and the nutrient regime is really too advanced for a newb.

I'd like to go with LED Lighting any recommendations? I don't want to buy a Chinese brand and it dies in the first month! Same for exhaust fan! and DWC

I've run 3 auto grows under it, start to finish, and have no complaints at all. The closet I use is 32x45 inches/7 foot tall, and the growth and bud density remain very good to excellent.
For my DWC (in storage for now- doing TLO soil), I just bought 5 gallon buckets and netpot covers, an air pump with 4 outputs, some tubing and large (6"x2.5" diameter) airstones. Rigged it up myself. I haven't looked, but i expect our DIY forum has the goods on DWC plans.
How big is your grow area, truth?

I'm going to start off with a soil-less mix, coco & perlite 50/50. I'm concerned about watering schedule, does anyone have a link with some more info?

I'll probably purchase a 48x28x78 sized tent, to get me started. After rethinking the PC Grow its gonna cause me too many problems.
