ffof is HOT.
I do it, but I mix w/happy frog. Also i do this crazy thing because it works.
i get my pot all set up with my ffof/ffhp mix and then I take a 8oz glass and push it into the pot to make a cavity. then i fill it with just happy frog. then I push a shot glass into it to make another smaller cavity. then I put a coco puck in that tiny cavity. I get it all moist and groovy. THEN I put the pot in my room. make sure I can maintain temp.!!!!!!!!!!!! then I plant the bean.

Dose it sound nuts?
maybe but it works.

That sounds super legit actually..I am not that creative, at least not yet when it comes to this. I have heard OF is hot but I am gonna keep track of temp as well even before planting seed. Do you know what a good temp for the soil to be at?!?

Basically got my fan/filter situation set up as well..Was worried there for a minute..Now just waiting on my light.. Gonna probably mix up my soil end of weekend and get this started next week. soo very excited

gotta get my camera situation figured out..need to either track down my camera or use phone..is phone a huge issue? wanna post but wanna do it safely. i saw thread or two on topic..seems kinda lengthy to clear info on pics..hummm I am sure ill figure it out shortly.

I think you may be misunderstanding what some folks are saying here. When people refer to soil as "hot" - they don't mean the temperature. They mean the amount of nutrients that are in the soil. This is important to people because traditionally Autoflowers have been a little more delicate as seedlings than their photoperiod relatives.

The risk of a soil being "hot" (with nutes) is that you can damage your seedling (you'll see the tip turn brown .. then if can spread to the edges ... if it continues you'll have brown crispy leaves and the plant will look ill and not grow nicely for you)

That should influence your decision on how to sow your seed

Do you know what a good temp for the soil to be at?!?

The same temps as your cab - ideally around 75-80f

..is phone a huge issue?

I wouldn't because your phone may be storing exif data on your photos - that could include a pretty accurate gps location of where the photo was taken (risky)

I decided to go with OF and Roots Coco.

That's an odd choice!

I am doing all Cream Caramel and one freebie I got.. Its a DinaFem Strand, one being critical and one being amnesia.

The cream caramel will be awesome! As for the others - dinafem are good, I like the sound of the amnesia (i've got a free one to drop at some point too! ^_^ ... good old attitude hehe)

Also Ladybudz. After you get your pot all set up water it and check the run off ph This is important bc it will be a whole lot easier to correct it before there is a plant in it. your run off water should be the same as what you put in 6.5

Blue ~ Yeah you were right on me having no idea what "hot" meant. I understand now.. It was recommended by another grower but they could have been giving advice based on whether or not they are doing non autos and assumed they same for me bc they do not know I am doing autos. I also took info from a book..I feel like I have so little but at the same time resources from all outlets. good and bad lol.. I dont expect to have perfection my first go round ( althooo I do hope they are pretty damn good). I am just taking a little bit of everything I hear from all perspectives.

I need to read up on Ph again and all things related to that before I start this up ..

Amnesia sounds like the winner to me as well!

I don't think I've ever seen a OF and coco mix before - my concern would be what pH to target? Coco usually runs in the high 5s while OF is standard soil in the mid 6s. I'd probably start off treating it like soil and then lower if problems arose. Lady, I'm assuming the guys at your grow shop have recommended this blend so hopefully they've got some experience with it. :thumbs:
