Grow Mediums Hi all this is my first AF grow.

Hey Sabre. Yea that one munter plant looks a bit messed up but is budding and you should get still some nice amount of smokeable product off it. Actually ... come to think of it ... the munter one looks like it's flowered more, perhaps that's why, perhaps its' hungry for nutrients compared to the others. That's the thing about growing multiple plants, they all have slightly / or very / different needs. Seperating them and feeding them seperately to their needs is best, but when growing many plants it's a lot of work :)

The other ones are looking much better. Perhaps a little bit droopy, but healthy looking all the time. I know plants don't look perky all the time, they go through cycles of perky droopy perky droopy every day. If they're always a bit droopy and never perky let me know.

Also how are your temps and humidity? Generally in flower you want something like 35-50% and temps something like 20 - 27 celcius aka 68 - 80 f during the day and even at night.

I live in NYS so Humidity is not an issue here LOL! It's always humid here even during the winter we have a high humidity. MY room temps stay between 68 and 80 depending on how cold it is outside. I put a small heater in my grow room cause winter is coming and I do put it on if the temps drop below 40 outside at night. My grow room will get down to about 60 if I didn't put the heater on. There is about a 20 to 30 degree difference from my grow room and the outside temps. I did separate the buddier one from the outer 3. So you think it needs some more nutes cause I did stay on the lower end of the recommended nutes. Yes I am getting individual buckets for my next grow so they stay separated. Yea the other 3 are doing much better. I had one of the Jock's recover from a Cal Def much better than the one I separated which is a Bubblelicious.\
I am going to do a few things different in my next grow. This is my first indoor grow, soil and hydro.

Thanks so much HH!

Today marks 60 days from seed! About another 30-45 days!!

Ok so I got some H2O2 from my hydro store for my sick plant. I also picked up some more calmag. I will keep you all updated on my sick one. The other 3 are doing great.

Day 63 and budding nice! here are some new pics

Be careful with the H2O2. There's a fine line between too little and too much. The point of it, is that it sterilises / kills anything and everything in the res. The danger is if you use too much it actually starts to burn and eat away / kill the roots.

The other negative about H2O2 is that it turns into plain water pretty quickly. So as soon as you open the bottle the bottle actually starts turning into water. Also when you pour it into the res, it does it's work and it turns into water even quicker. Meaning you need to keep adding it to your res. I would say once every day or two days.

I use a product called Dutch Master - Zone

It is far more stable than H2O2 and does a better job in my experience. It will last 7-10 days in the res and makes your roots practically pure white.

When I was buying it my guy at the hydro shop told me that the H2O2 was just another tool in my tool belt. He said not to use it all the time cause the plants will build up an immunity against it. I bought the high consintrated H2O2 Like 30%. Thank you so much HH for following my journal. I will be upgrading equipment and Nutes for my next grow.

Hello, I am using SM-90 to keep my res clean. Cheers!

Yeah I've heard of SM-90 too but we can't get that over here in EU/UK/Ireland land.

The line about "dont' use H2O2 because the plants will become immune to it" is a load of utter bollocks.

Chemically.. it's like fire

It oxidises

No living creature (that I'm aware of anyway, apart from maybe extremephiles) are immune or grow immunity to oxidisation.

Load of bollocks mate :)

The problem with H2O2 is if you use too much if it, it will oxidise the roots themselves. Use not enough and it oxidises some, or even most of the pathogens in the water, but not all of them. Meaning give it a few days and they'll be back again. So you need to keep using H2O2 on a regular basis, or else it's not effective. I.e the complete opposite of what you were told, is true. :D

The second problem with H2O2 is it's so unstable it will oxidise itself! Eventually turning into pure old H2O (aka water...) Pour a small amount into a small bowl, let it sit out for a few days, then dip your finger into it and nothing will happen. Where as if you spill even a drop of the 30% stuff on your finger you'll get a nice white mark where it's oxidised you :)

The really only reason I would recommend Dutch Master Zone, or something like UC Roots. They both work similarly http://cch2o.com/products/plant-nutrients/uc-roots-2/

Stay away from Hydrozyme (or whatever it's called).

Sm-90 I've feck all knowledge on but sounds like it's different than Zone or UC Roots. SM-90 sounds almost more like a natural more complex compound, where as the other two I recommend are simpler chemical compounds (similar to chlorine but more stable).

Personally I'd love to get my hands on some UC Roots because the guy who is the president of the company that makes it is an absolute legend and I would totally trust his knowledge and have faith in his products because of that. Zone definitely works though. If you want I'll take a picture of my roots in hydro using Zone for sterlising for you tomorrow.

EDIT: your welcome by the way for following your grow :) I shall continue to do so ;)

Double EDIT : SM-90 and or UC Roots could be better than Dutch Master Zone, but unfortunately I don't have access to them so can't say either way. Just to clarify.
