Hi all. My wife told me I should get a hobby. I think she is worried about a mid-life crisis setting in. I've been 37 years a musician and make my way gigging and teaching guitar and music history at the college level. Many guys respond to the big five-O by running out and buying a Les Paul but I had to look elsewhere.
I love a good high and quality weed is expensive and hard to come by down here in that reddest of red states so I had the idea to grow my own in my jam room closet. I am two weeks into my first autoflower grow and am completely hooked.
Growing combines a relaxing commune with nature with just a little James Bond-style danger and I am fascinated by how much of an art it seems to be. Louis Armstrong called marijuana his "beloved weed." I love nothing better than to get baked and play with loops, improvise and write on my guitar.
I've always felt that pot being illegal implicates God as an accessory so growing is also a way for me to quietly express a personal and spiritual truth. Funny thing - smoking weed is not all that addictive but apparently growing it can be.

Thanks. When I was youngster I had no problem sustaining attention for hours while practicing. These days, however, I seem to benefit from a little help. A good indica/sativa blend certainly helps get the creative juices flowing.

I'm currently growing three feminized autoflower plants,an Amnesia Haze, Northern Lights, and a White Widow. I'm set up with a 400watt HPS, 2 gallon pots, OF soil, and three 100watt fls. to move around and get those hard to reach places. They are thriving as of now. I do aim to start a journal ASAP. I've been cruising off the soil mix so far but will need to start feeding within the next week or two and at that point I anticipate having plenty to ask the esteemed members of this network from then on out.

Thanks again. For security reasons, I am resolved to do this in complete stealth mode as far as friends and family go. My wife is of course supportive. It will be great to be able to talk and share with others so I look forward to being an active part of this community. Maybe I'll be able to grow as well as you one day soon.

AFN is Def an outlet to chat and share with others about your little closet campaign. I know I gave up Facebook and social media a few years ago but this place takes the cake for me and just as you stated and my good Ole buddy elsam said... tell no one... it's extremely hard to do especially otlr deal... I grow mainly for my wife's meds and occasionally we have gatherings and I'll break out some top shelf mephisto buds and say there her meds and share a bud with them... then I sir back and listen to them say wonderful things about the best bud they have ever had and can I hook them up with the dealer lol.. all the while on the inside I want to yell "I grew that shit.... isn't it bad ass " lol. I just smile and say he's a private old man that will not allow any new customers..

Any way enough about that welcome to afn get that journal up and going my new friend can't wait to follow along.


P.s don't bother looking into those other cannabis sites they suck and can't grow autos lol... AFN IS THE ONE STOP SHOP

I too dropped out of the Facebook scene a few years back. To many misguided and mean-spirited rants.

Question: I'm about to order some nutes to take me to the end of my grow. Looking at Dr. Earth Nitro Big and Flower Girl. Thoughts?

Hmmm tbh I'm a soiless grower and I have used advanced nutrients from grow #1 so I cannot give solid advice on that one brother... I have seen the Dr. EARTH nutrients used and I say of that's what your feeling go for it. Just start them off light and see how they react to it... and also keep an eye on your soil PH using the OF I hear they get really bad ph swings sometimes...

I have used the Dr. Earths Nitro Big and Golden Bloom. real easy organic blends. I started at 1/4 what they recommend and worked up to almost full by the end. the only down side is that it won't burn your plants. easy to get N toxicity with it. just feed 1 watering then just ph 6.5 water the next 2. repeat. and the Dr. E nutes will give you proper ph with out adding other buffers.
