Lighting How Close to the Plants????

Need to know how close I should have my 400 watt HPS/MH.

The ballast is dimmable so I want to start it at 50% to save on heat and electricity plus I don't wanna kill the seedlings. Week later bump it up to 100% so anyone with experience with 400 watt MH/HPS, please reply.

I try to keep it at around 12-14 inches from canopy. I think it recommends anywhere from 12-24 inches from canopy, 24 for seedlings/cuttings.

12 inches ...Or Use the baxk Of Ur Hand.....If u Fee the Heats to.Hot ...ur Plants will be too Hot

So if I keep the light 12" from the seedlings AND only use 50% power I should be ok.
