Cheers HH,

I have 8 plugs to connect not including my lights! OCD when it comes to controlling my plants environment :)

Ye i'm getting OCD now, people said to me "You'll love hydro, just sit back and watch them grow.".

Maybe i'll be able to do that after buying some more hardware, and then watch the electric bill grow :)

But it's all worth it :)

Thanks,

steely

Dont worry to much about electric as its all low wattage stuff you need. Solar Panels next! Woops

Somebody told me you can't pump nutrient solution through the chiller.

Someone told you but I've been doing it for ages. Maybe it's a bad thing I dunno. Would be good to find out. Am I doing shit wrong these past couple of years? Is this the reason why I've been getting less than stellar performance?

I have know idea! If I have this right your supposed to run regular water through the lines and then through a copper coil, or stainless steel, that sits in the rez. The coil pulls out heat from your rez solution. I guess. I've never seen one in use so I don't know. That's what I've been trying to find out. That is atleast what it looks like in the dyi versions. Makes sense to me.

You can build your own chiller more MUCH less than a commercial one. I posted a DIY chiller link previously. All you need is a dehumidifier. I just bought a 30 pint unit for $30. It will easily cool up to 60 gallons of water! You'd likely need to have a much bigger res though. I'm using a 24 gallon tote that will feed up to 4 buckets. 10 minutes every 4 -6 hours will keep res temps in the 64-70F ( 17.7 to 21 C ) range. I'd use the largest res you can fit in your tent, and insulated it well. As an experiment, I put a 2.5 gallon bucket in a box filled with packing peanuts for insulation. The temps slowly climbed from 60 to 70F over a more than 24 hour period.

Frozen bottle of water in the res every 3 hours keeps it ok for me but I can get to it easily so not a solution for everyone.

Turn a dehumidifier into a cooler for your res, cheers Pops for the heads up :
