I'm a noobie but have read a great deal on setup and etc. and will go with the dwc 5 gallon cooler "bubble bucket". The main reason i will be going hydro is to save time from seed to harvest. My question is how much time on average will i knock off from a strain that usually takes 60 days seed to harvest using dirt?

:Sharing One:don't think hydro cuts the grow time down at all bro ? .... in fact id say hydro takes a bit longer than soil grows to finish & doubt you can shave any time off a 60 day grow ...thats about as fast as any auto would finish im guessing :dunno:
Look forward to see what others think on this though :peace:

I had also heard that plants finish faster in hydro, but my hydro plant grew so big and bushy that it's taking a good bit longer than the same plant in a soil pot, which is much smaller.

You won't save any time by choosing hydro mate. The smaller plants that become rootbound early on in life will finish quickest, but obviously you sacrifice yield. Also the seed banks estimations on the plants life cycle are often incorrect, 65 days is the earliest I've seen a plant fully mature, and these are optimum conditions.. I'd give yourself at least 85/90 days just to save stress :peace:

The only way to "save time" is to chop it too early... otherwise your plant is done when IT says its done, I don't care what method you use to grow it. DWC and other hydroponic techniques, are however, know for increasing yields, sometimes by large margins over other techniques.

Thanks for all the replies, still learning. Bigger yields sounds awesome, ill go with that.

you heard wrong and should go correct the person that told you that

what happens is the plants grow quicker , not finish sooner , its the growing quicker why hydro grows are bigger , but 60 days is still 60 days

peace

Looks like we got that one cleared up, good job team! Rshackleferd I wish you the best of luck on your endeavours, there's a whole bunch of info on this forum so get stuck in mate :peace:

i guess it could be looked at this way , if its a photo strain that grows/veg's faster , it reaches sexual maturity a little sooner do to it , so you will be able to flip to 12/12 sooner , so when all is said and done you have indeed saved some time

dont see it finishing flowering any faster or finishing an auto any faster

peace
