Hello. I'm wanting to do my first grow journal but I'm a little paranoid. I will use common sense when taking photos but will I be safe putting up a journal?

Nothing is safe, and techy types will tell you what you can do to reduce worry(tor?) but I don't think babylon will pinch me because of AFN. I know your worries, I lurked for at least a year but I believe you're better off addressing practical security issues and then enjoying posting your grow within our community.

AFN uses an encrypted connection from your browser to the server which protects from spying eyes. As far as being safe, I recommend putting the pics on site for the same reason. user IP's are not logged and further everything on the site is run through cloudfare (additional ddos protection)

I'd say it would still be wise to use VPN service and encrypt your traffic. I do it with everything regardless. I really do appriciate the effort to secure privacy of the users of this site, JM.

A VPN can never hurt... but make sure you have a reputable VPN comany... otherwise you're trusting your privacy to potentially unscrupulous people with your personal info.

You can also configure your browser to use an anonymous proxy server, though you'd want to research the options to verify the integrity of whoever you chose to use.

We take every effort to maintain anonymity of our members. Like others have said, a proxy server can be a good idea to add further protection. I've been around this scene for years and I have never heard of a single credible story of someone getting busted because LEO tracked them down through a legitimate cannabis site server. Meanwhile I've heard countless tales of arrests due to being ratted out by friends/family/neighbors/landlords, insufficient odor control, grow room setups that give away what is being done, and generally poor security practices. So I'd say that as long as you have your real life stuff sorted, you'll be fine. I believe you'd have to be showing off a massive industrial grow to make it worthwhile for any LEO to begin the arduous process of attempting to track you down online.
