This intro is a story, a simple yet telling tale of how this plant has always had a great effect on people's lives.

Today started as any mundane Saturday in the foothills of the glorious mountains on middle earth. Except today was the start of the acquisition phase of my first grow. As a trip to town requires a 20 mile drive through the hills, I had a plan. The young sire and I were gonna do some man shopping. Lowe's, HHGregg, and the ubiquitous Wal-Mart were all on the schedule.

After acquiring some air pump tubing, 5 gallon buckets, locking door knob, dryer ducting, and a few other odds and ends( all at significant discounts that even the internet's couldn't provide) we departed Lowe's and went to look at a new TV.

After verifying that the researched technical specifications resulted in, well results, we located the unit we shall be seeking permission from the queen to purchase. I must say, this is a far greater task than getting her grace to use the spare bedroom as a farm.

Although our next stop at ye olde wallyworld resulted in a far higher budget than expected, we left with some more goodies for the grow as well as the required ingredients to make breakfast for dinner.

And the return journey through the hills, as innocent as it usually is did not end well, or so I thought.

After completing nearly 19 of our 20 mile drive, the wagen shit it's pants and I dropped an axle. While going up hill, in the snow, loaded with groceries and an 8 year old.

Since the queen of our kingdom likes to pull her own weight, she is currently at work, 30 miles away. As we live in the shire no rescue was possible. But we are men, doing man things.

So, we gathered ourselves, and devised a plan. Well, I devised the plan, young sire sat in the car and ate gummy bears.

I proceeded to load up the 2 5gal buckets with the spoils which could potentially spoil, sealed them up and off we went into the snow, uphill, with the boy in tow.

As I now rest by the wood stove, sipping my coffee, which made the trip home in a bucket ( seriously, we were out of coffee it had to make it home) I reflect on how a simple pleasure saved the day.

If I hadn't decided to grow some weed, the groceries would have stayed in the car and I would have let down the kids, to whom I promised (multiple times on many occasions) breakfast for dinner.

My son may not know why I need those buckets but he knows they saved dinner.

If ya need anything please give someone a shout. We shall do our best!

CGR...... Not toking again until it's my own supply. Helps keep costs of the grow down.
Saving ~$300/mo not buying the cost of the grow over 3 months.

Ripper......I am a good ways out. And that's how I like it. I've lived in the city before, too expensive and too many assholes.

So the plan is a 2x4 with 2 auto ultimates in a greenlite/biobizz lite mix. Gonna run with the player pack for mites. Still haven't pulled the trigger on lights yet but looking at 2 panels pulling ~200 actually watts.

I've narrowed it down to mars 600, mars reflector96, or the mars2 400.

Vipar is another I've been mulling over but am confused, is viparled on eBay the same as viparspectra on Amazon?? Looks the same spec wise.

If so the vipar 450 is on the table as well.

Hello chum,

you win the penguin prize for fact/fiction intro of the month. I would suggest a monthly update. Very entertaining. As per the LED's, I have a Vipar that was very satisfactory (from eBay) but MarsHydro are on AFN and may well do you a good deal.

What strain will you be growing?.......welcome and enjoy your growing, eP.

Gonna be cooking up 2 auto ultimates in a 2x4. Gonna run 400w actual on 2 panels.
Biobizz lite and RO greenlite mix in 7 gallon smart pots. Gonna do the RO player pack.

Trying to stay as simple as I can. Never setup or done a grow on my own. Just been involved in a few others photo grows.

So the fun begins.

Gonna start setting up the room tonight.

Just waiting on the seeds, ph & ec testers, yoyos and thermometers.

No sense starting small, auto ultimates should keep you in smoke for a while. Good luck and welcome aboard. Oh yeah, the shire?? Middle earth?? You aren't a hobbit by chance?

Well I did order some auto ultimates but decided it would be better to run with the bluemazar the first go.

Would rather go with something that will be easier to tame. LST on the bluemazar will prob be a bit easier than the autoultimate
