Grow Mediums How to reduce PH in coco? And watering seedling question.

Dude look at my feeding shedule:

That's literally how I grow. Coco is a hydro medium.. I've even written an article about it if you're interested?

To overwater in coco you'd have to water continuously. You could water 20L/Day and not overwater, if you did it in intervals.

I check run-off and when happy, I feed my coco plants about a qt to qt and a half each day to every other day. I have a soil ph meter but rarely use it.

You said you let it dry out. In an earlier conversation you also said you mixed your coco with a high percentage of perlite. Don't ever let it dry. I can NOT stress that enough. If you let it dry the PH changes.

There is no possible way you could ever over-water in coco. Technically it's possible.. but you'd have to actually try to drown the plant.

Can you explain that feeding schedule to me please? What are the numbers on the left side?

F: ammount of nutrient solution fed that day in liters (we use commas as decimal delimiters)
G: date
H: day of flower
So you feed everyday in flower? Do you feed to runoff? I feed whenever the pot feels half empty,Which is normally every other day depending what time of year it is.my girls usually get 5 litres every other day.i like the way you feed your girls...little and often.

In the past I have had similar problems that you are having. My PH always went way high causing all kinds of issues. So after asking @Waira more questions than should of ever been answered I went and got a probe. I found that PHing the feed solution to 5.8-6 did not work for me. I am not enough of an expert to tell you why but My PH always drifts higher. I experimented and found for me PHing my solution to 5.6 has kept everything in line. As for over watering after day 10 I am at a 1/2 liter once a day, day 15-20(plant growth depending) I am at 1/2 liter twice a day. By day 30 3/4 a liter twice a day. Usually by time flower really kicks in I am at 1 liter twice a day. Every now and then I will get a monster and it is a 1 1/2 liters twice a day. This is in 3 gallon pots. Unless the plant is really young it is very, very, hard to over water in coco. Especially if your mixing with per-lite (i run 70/30ish) the water is going to run off at saturation and dry out pretty fast. One last note on this comment that I expected to be a sentence when you water this much you have to keep your ppms lower. I very rarely get over 800 ppm. When I was starting out in coco I watered once a day and would push 1200-1300 ppm. When I water more frequently with higher PPMs lock out is way more likely.

can u use lots of water with newly popped seedlingsm?

i read jus water around the area of the seedling. i did that so most if the coco has now dried out since when I first charge the Coco about a week ago. I have just been keeping area wet around the seedling. I wonder if that's why the seedling is not showing any growth over the last 4 days or so. and since I prewater the whole pot a first a day before it was all moist when started. Could see humidity in the dome. But now I see no humidity in the dome for last 2 days.

I am going to go water them a lot more just to see. Hopefully I did not stunt them with stress from underwatering for a few days and stunt their growth that I can't recover from.

I just water the new seedlings around the edges of the dome. Some of your coco will dry out. You also have to remember that your roots are growing under the medium as well. If you ever drop a pot of an early seedling you will be surprised with the amount of roots. I use plain water till day ten then start with 200-300 ppms. By day fifteen I am getting the whole pot wet. They will recover that is what makes coco a great medium you can adjust quickly. It can also be the downfall don't over think it if your environment is right they will grow.

Thanks that was the kind of info I was looking for re: watering in coco with seedlings.

I'll just leave them be and not overthink it (water, nutes, light). I almost went there but managed to practice some moderation and restraint. I am not used to all coco. Always amended it with organics before. And it seems to me they started faster and that's what thru me off on these 2 seedlings.

I water the entire thing completely. The root tips dessicate when they go from a wet into a dry patch of earth, which causes ramification up the root. I prefer to have them occupy the entire pot from the beginning and do the pruning with holes in the pot instead.

You can overwater a seedling, not in the traditional sense. But if you water too quickly(faster than the water can drain) you are washing up the substrate and when the water drains it collapses again. Cco is a light medium.. stuff like that can cost you a lot of rootHairs.
