are these black compact ballasts any good im hearing that they get way to hot and can melt is this the case before i order my 400W HPS

the maxibright ones ive heard get hot but melting i doubt anyone would sell some thing like that

never heard of the brand have you googled it
decent named compacts on a heat proof surface (like a tile) are safe

bite the bullet buy a led,it will save you a fortune, no heat to be picked up by any helicopters and they work, thats my :2cents::peace: sj

I still dont think led is quite there yet as the extra oz if you got with the hps would right off leccy use 4x over and he made need 2x depending on foot print

neither do i agito.ive 2 blackstars 240 great light but im getting new leds ones that i can upgrade myself when the tech moves but i still think leds are the way. lets look at hps. hood, ballast ,bulb, ducting, fan for cooling bulb. then you need to replace bulbs, im not knocking hps and im not trolling but thats my opinion.:peace: sj.

I dont think your trolling and the results look good from the blackstars
but initial costs
Ive seen higher grams per watt with leds maybes a touch higher but there not double as they claim
example would be 400w hps 400g from hps but the 240w led might give 300-325g avg but its still no 400g
99% Commercial producers dont use leds if cost saving was that good they would invest immediately
light is to spectrum specific in most brands
Every published arthur or seed breeder of cannabis don't use them far as im aware
you cant change a blown led easy
you still need ducting fan for led if its rated right it shouldnt be a massive issue
penetration is worse
