Lighting HPS questions ...

Okay i've read a few articles/posts and the general consensus seems to be :

1. In a grow tent or cab in an ENCLOSED room, or a room you can't open the windows in, two fans are considered best, one to pull cool air from the room through the cooltube/airhood and back into the room.

2. Most people seem to advise not pushing air through a filter and then through the cooltube/airhood as it may decrease the lifetime of the tube or hood.

I only have one exit hole and don't want the fan inside the tent so i've decided to :

a) have ducting from outside of tent going to airhood, then into Y adapter, then into extractor fan.
b) filter ducting going to Y adapter then into extractor fan.

I'll just have to get a more powerful fan (400 cubic metres per hour) to overcome the additional resistance.

Thanks for advice people, all the stuff should be delivered by middle of next week and i'll get another grow on.

Can't wait :)

Have a good weekend all.

Some more questions :

1. Should i use the 250W setting in veg and the 400W setting in flower
2. When and how should i use the super lumens setting

Cheers,

steely.

Ive got 600w with no dimmable option. If i had i would run 250w for the first week or two then just use 400w the rest of the grow.
Maybe super lumens for the last few weeks of flower

Decided to keep it simple and just run extraction through airhood, but i got a new extractor fan that pulls 280m3.

Done some tests and using the 400W setting the temp is stable at 85F/29C at current ambient temperatures, i have a small oil-filled radiator for the cold nights when lights will be off.

Hi, another question.

I notice when the HPS switches on it defaults to the 250W setting, is there any way to make it start at 400W ?

Thanks,

steely

That's odd, mines a turn knob, it does what i tell it. I don't think I've seen a digital interface on many, what brand is it?

The girls all germed and sprouted in 48 hours and are now in their pots :

Will use 250W setting for first month then switch up i think.

Hey Steely!
Looks good man. A word of caution from experience, drawing unfiltered air through the cool fixture will lead to buildup on the bulb and glass, at least it did that to me!!

Thanks man, i should probably push the air through then until i get a tent intended for airhoods.
