The material is mostly sweet leaf trim, small lower buds and air buds put through a hand grinder and let dry a few days. I am using a 75 micron bubble bag over a plastic paint can with the bottom cut off. The plastic container keeps a static charge so the kief sticks to the sides and is easy to recover. Once dry I work the material with my fingers and tap the sides and collect. I have stopped using it as fast as I can make it, sprinkled into joints, and now have enough to try and make into something. The containers are about an 1.5in dia and 3/4in tall. My question is do I just get a hand press from the local headshop or?

I've heard of folks liking the results when taking bubble bag hash and pressing it Rosin press style. Think the number I've heard is around a 50% return of some nice, shatter like material when rosin pressing good kief hash. That's different than the "pollen press" if that's what you're seeing at the head shop. Rosin press involves heat and pressing.

You are right, I am seeing pollen press. Should I look on line for rosin press or something that works with heat. What's the difference as far as effect? Which method would produce a better product for pain management?

The rosin pressed product will be more concentrated and therefore should have more pain management qualities...the choice is yours as to what you do with it,but if you decide to pollen press it into pellets, let it dry for a few days so it doesnt trap moisture and get mold...also it is just as good loose as a pressed pellet because all rhat does is burst the heads and the oil will dry out...smoke as is,that's another option

The goal of doing a rosin press with kief or hash from what I can tell (I have'nt had enough personally to worry about....yet) is to take something that's difficult to vape and turn it into a "full melt" product that is easily used in a vaporizor or oil rig nail type setup.

Easiest I've seen to get into it with is using a hair straightener. @Weedman30 has a pretty good thread talking about getting into it with a straightener here: https://www.autoflower.org/threads/rosin-tech-pure-solvent-free-wax.41254/

I'm not sure the pollen or cold press use. It would make it into nice packed little disks, but not sure if they would burn, vape, or what at that point.

I like mixing the kief into my joints, seems to make the smoke a bit smoother, for me anyway. Making some hash without stinking up the house was next on my list. The wife has been very good about all this, she hasn't smoked in forty years, only rules are keep the smell down and don't use her stuff.

I got a kief press and tried it out. Put about a half gram in and pressed it before I went to sleep. It worked, smoked about half this morning. This was made from mostly sweet leaf and some air buds, can't wait to try good top buds. I have about two grams in the press now and I will try adding some low heat this time. I love this hobby, it just keeps getting more fun.
