I'm getting ready to start a automazar in some Foxfarm ocean forest soil. Do I need to and anything to it???? Like maybe some lime or some starter nutes???? I really appreciate all the info I can get. Oh and by the way I will also be using Foxfarm nutes through the hole grow. Thanks.

Need to know more about your grow, lights etc ...
If you are an LED man then i'd recommend dolomite lime in your soil mix to avoid calmag def.
Don't give them nutes for first three or four weeks with that soil, it's pretty hot with the bat guano etc, then start them on 1ml/L.

OK so no worries about LED-related calmag def. Lots of light power, nice one.
Hopefully someone else can tell you about what distance to kep the light from the canopy because it has to vary from seedling stage up, i've never used HPS.

Do not drop the seed directly into
ocean forest. It is good growing soil, but not for seedlings. If you can, let them grow a few weeks in a more seed friendly mix like light warrior. Create a pocket, or a layer for them to grow into, in the center of your OF. they need about 6 inches before they hit the OF.
Not sure of your light distance, I always start mine under CFL or Flourescent t8 tubes.
You can add a 1/2 cup of lime, an a cup of epsom salt to it. Then you have a basic recipe if you want to add nutrients as you go as you indicated in your first post.
Oh and about two gallons of worm castings. (worm castings mixed with Happy frog is good starter mix). Optional
