Howdy all AFNer's..2nd season grow is in week three..Thinking about trying to make some edibles..All the goodies call out for oil or butter..So just how and what is the best ways to make those?

Peace

Hi HDG,a few things to think about ahead of time .,,safest first ...research second...trial and error to get the best flavor and consistency,,but first,SAFETY,,,all methods are pretty quick and easy to run small batches and the cost for the equipment can be low or can be high depending on your budget...each method will give different flavor and potency so I would try each( I have) and think the best flavor is from properly purged everclear extracts(just my opinion tho)...good luck and most important,,be Safe !!!!

Thanks All..I'm doing my research now..Time isn't a big factor.Just want some good snacks to share with freinds.

Peace

I've simmered my greenery with a quantity of butter (250-500g) and water for several hours (adding water as needed). Then you leave it to set and you have new greenish butter.

I then make the most simple thing in the world: Shortbread

Ingredients
Preparation method
  1. Heat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.

  2. Beat the butter and the sugar together until smooth.

  3. Stir in the flour to get a smooth paste. Turn on to a work surface and gently roll out until the paste is 1cm/½in thick.

  4. Cut into rounds or fingers and place onto a baking tray. Sprinkle with caster sugar and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes.

  5. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until pale golden-brown. Set aside to cool on a wire rack.
  6. Eat and get moolanged.

There are several variation of methods using coconut oil and soy lecithin granuels that are really popular. I've tried out one I find floating around the web and it's my go to now for cooking. Once you've got the oil or butter, you can experiment with taking most any recipe that calls for butter, oil, or shortening and substituting "happy oil". Good example of a coconut oil and some cookies using it here: https://www.autoflower.org/threads/happy-hort-canna-cookies.34875/page-3#post-916908

coconut oil is good for you, and one of the best oils for making cannabutter.

you don't need to decarb, make a small batch without decarb, then try with it.

aging reduces the green, which helps with the taste.

I always set some pot from a grow aside, so I can blend different types to get closer to what I want.

I got my crock pot at Goodwill for 2 bucks. It was the original crock pot, still had the tags on it. It lacks adjustability, tends to run a little hot.
You will find that with most crockpots. You want to simmer, not boil. The pot will tend to form a mat on the surface, holding in heat.

You could also use a double boiler, which contrary to the way it sounds, is intended to prevent boiling.

So...here is a little something to get you started. Put a tblsp of plain coconut oil in a microwave dish.Put an ounce or two of Bakers unsweetened baking chocolate on top of it. Nuke it for a minute, let it sit and melt for a while. Put a couple eggs into a mixing bowl, and whisk them. Doesn't take but a few seconds. Take 1 cup of Ghiradelli brownie mix (any) and put it in the bowl. Go back to the microwave, and using a fork see if the chocolate is soft enough to blend with the coconut oil. You will prob need to microwave a little more. This would be a good time to add the cannabutter, and let it melt into the choc and oil. When they are all blended together, put it into the mixing bowl, and stir until it's well mixed.

Grease a bread pan. You can make a smaller space in a regular pan by folding some tinfoil into a dam, in the pan.

Cook at 325f. It will be done when a toothpick inserted into it comes out clean.

Cut the brownies into small squares, or cut one small one to try. Mine usually come out very strong, sometimes all I need is a piece one inch by one inch to get high.
Somewhat perversely, I have been trying to make my brownies less strong.

I have a very good molasses cookie/bar recipe, if you like that. It's a more adult version. I will likely make a fresh batch of edibles, of that, to try a new blend later today.
