DIY Ideas on routing ventilation piping...

If you take the tent's heat out of the room would the grow be cold ?

I don't think it would.. I run my lights something like 19/5, and even w/ the lights out, the basement doesn't get cooler than low 60's, which is definitely fine IMO.. I could change the lighting cycle to stay on overnight when the temps drop the lowest, as I did this last winter with decent luck, but I was doing hydro, so it's a little different animal.. I had considered putting my heat mats in there if temps got too cool during the worst of the winter months, mostly because they are low wattage, but would keep the root zones in a good temp region..

I like the heat mat idea ... is there no more direct way to get the tent to vent into the upstairs ... like an already existing hole in the floor ?

One of the floor registers for the upstairs is on the other side of the grow area, so I think that might even be the faster route.. Kinda sucks though because I'm gonna have to pull down all of the insulation I put up last winter, but it could be worse!!!

I second that option, sound completely straight forward and no interference with the existing heating system. If you take this route, you'll still want a thermostat controller for the fan I think.

I didn't use hard piping, but I sandwiched a duct collar between some bead board and foam board, bolted it together with washers to hold the collar tight, and routed it through the ceiling into an uninsulated attic space with a backdraft preventer. My next tent is going in the basement, it will use similar adhesive collar to connect to and draw fresh air from the HVAC because it is in a musty old basement. The exhaust will warm the basement in the winter, and go out a blacked out window in the summer.

Did you get it sorted out?

Sort of, but kinda, not really.. I just got back from a cruise, so I can get some pictures tomorrow.. The room is wide open right now, so the ambient temps have been staying between 59F and 73F, so it's a nice spread; brings out some of the colors as well.. I have had to remove the carbon scrubber to just draw air out of the tent because the temps kept going up.. I harvested the larger of the GDPs, mostly because I sorta messed up w/ having the HPS a little too close and I sorta burnt a lot of the foliage on the top of the plant, but almost all of the pistils were orange and even the other foliage was starting to go..
