Hi I've got a marshydro 300w old model and not enough grows under my belt to have experimented with height, Right now its about 12" away but have heard others saying up to 24" it will work just as well

How much truth is there to this?

and what is the optimum distance?

I have been doing some research of this and what i have found is as led is more of a direct light beam than hps and iv found most .... start around 10-12" away at first than as the plant gets bigger to achive the best from ur lights raise them 16-20 " ;for the best results what do u think tp the mars hydro 300

Mars hydro lights are good for not bleaching your plants unless they are just about touching. I have 2 x 300w and a 900w and have had as little as a 4" gap between my plants and lights as I couldn't get them any higher and they turned out fine, just make sure you have fans on them as they still get warm and pay close attention to them as they still pull towards the lights. @biggie only twice have I had super rare albino weed on the tips of my plant and I can see why its rare, 'cos its not right good!

I have a very limited vertical setup and I continually push the limits with my mars 300 and my galaxy 300. Ive been able to get within 4-6" from the plants to the light surface with no ill effect. I do have PC fans rigged up blowing across the surface of the lights though.
