New Grower is soil ph 7.8 too high

Well, there are just too many unknowns right now to answer that responsibly.

Sorry if this is self-complicating too rapidly :)

At least a few more details would be needed:

How are you assessing the intervals between watering?
Are you adding in any nutrients or other maintenance items?
What's your regular watering schedule?
It appears to be Outdoors...is that just for the pics or is it exposed to potential rainfall?
What kind of plant is it? (genetics) Is it an Auto? How old is it?

Ultimately, while the plant looks a little pale (lighter green as opposed to darker green) it doesn't
look like it's in dire straits or anything...Since that is the case, I wouldn't treat it like a trauma emergency
or anything. Small changes then observe...So I, personally, would wait until it needed watering again and
enact adjustments at that point.

One of the keys to this, though, is identifying if your watering interval is appropriate to begin with.

It may be a good idea (read: great idea) to start up a grow journal in New Growers Sub-forum
and layout as many of the details as you can so other members can chime in on all the particulars
as opposed to this one isolated issue...because issues are never isolated, they are always interconnected
with other things...the more of the picture everyone gets, the better the advice will be. :)

Oh, and listen to EVERYTHING that guy ^ ^ ^ (Muddy) says. He knows what he's talking about.

yeh mudd my soil meter is cheap ill check runn off with plain water

Great. Make sure to record the pH of the water you are feeding as well as the pH of the run off. I wouldn't suggest doing anything else yet until we know those readings.

aleooop!!!

Boom goes the dynamite :)

Please note: Left graph is for hydro, right graph is for soil. :)

ok so now i know why my soil ph is so high my tap water filtered is 7.0 so i did not put that on my plant. i first got the ph to 6.3 then i tested the run off it was 6.6. so will that start to change my soil or do i have to add something? if there is anything wrong with it?

Feeding at 6.3 and getting run off at 6.6 indicates that your actual soil pH is around 6.9. A bit high but not too bad. Drop the pH of your feeds to around 5.9 - 6 and you should be fine.
