Is this just trichoderma in my coco? It's sporulating...

I'm on day 32 of a pure coco grow and it looks like the trichoderma I've long suspected I've had has begun sporulating. I've seen translucent white here and there on the surface of my coco since the second week of the grow, but figured I wasn't going to worry unless it began sporulating (which is why it turns green). I sprayed this small patch with H2O2 and removed it a while later out of caution.

Should I be worried about this? Does it look and sound like trich to you? I suspect it only began sporulating because the surface of the coco (daily feedings) has been staying moist consistently lately due to the canopy preventing my LEDs from evaporating it. I think I'll start feeding every 36 hours instead.

I know it's statistically more likely to be algae, but it's overlapping with the white stuff that looks like mycelium (but could be salt precipitate, I guess).

:toke:.... the green stuff is algae, trichoderma don't have chlorophyll,.... the white stuff is probably fungal or bacterial (I honestly can't say which), indeed from the constant nutes/moisture and low air flow.... I'd think if there were nute salt deposits that bad there, the plant would be toast! ..new pots too it looks like, soooo.... touch it, scrape some off and see, the two will not feel the same at all! You can treat the outside with safe fungicide, and/or take a brush and power flick what white stuff best you can,... Then sterilize them when done,...
BTW, how much run-off do you do each time? I'm not a coco grower myself, but the guru's say 15-20% for hand-watered pots,.... what size? Smaller is the way to go, since you can grow monsters in smaller pots with coco-- if you are willing to work it that hard!

Thanks! I was thinking it might be trich because once it releases spores it appears to turn green, but that's just the green spores covering the mycelium (seen this a lot on shroom grows). It's probably just algae like you say, though. No more has popped up. Yet another circulation fan will be here soon and I'm now using a dehumidifier.

This is my first grow. I have 4 5-gallon pots in a tiny 32x32" tent. It's a nightmare now that the plants are getting big. I'm just glad I topped them all--I'm out of lateral space and will soon be out of headroom. Next time I will probably just have one, maybe two plants, with a net.

I'm letting them dry out more between feedings now. I don't always feed until runoff anymore, though I did the first ~3 weeks of this grow. Now I try to feed just enough most of the time and to runoff once a week. No health issues at all, except a little light burn on one plant, ever since I got the pH under control around day 14. Before that I unfortunately used pH indicator drops... Never again.

... ahhh, that's part of the problem right there, pot size! Guru says stay 1-3gal max, unless you plan on truly large plants and have the env. to back that up,.. coco needs to cycle fast, and large pots slow things way down,... to keep the ppms and pH in check, that hydro-like constant flow through is key,... most coco nuts here seem to be running 2gal or so size pots, and getting multi-ounce plants-... coco is a tricky medium, have you done you homework on it? A lot of do's and don't's, CEC management, Ca-Mg/specialized nutes associated with that, etc.,...

Yep, I did lots of research before starting. I just didn't have a good idea of scale--I didn't really get just how big my plants would end up, so I filled the whole tent floor with pots. :P Things will definitely be scaled down next grow. I've cut humidity, will cut it more later, and am dramatically increasing airflow to avoid any mold opportunities. I'm also defoliating quite a bit, even if it harms yields, just to make things more manageable and avoid stagnant air below the canopy. I have no profit motive here, so I'd just like to see all four plants finish, not really concerned with yields but rather a healthy conclusion.

One of the early coco guides I read when buying my equipment actually suggested 3 gallon or 5 gallon pots, and I just figured since I had the floor space, I'd go with 5 gallon. Oh well... :/ At least the roots have entirely colonized the pots so no space is going to waste. :P

Hey @Waira, here is what I'm dealing with. :P

I didn't start this grow looking to set any records, but I might end up with an odious and undesirable non-SoG plant density record...

WoW! Very nice ladies! :d5:

Here is my microbe farm

There is a haze of algae in there also but not doing any real harm, it's the black one that screws shit up!

Keep up the good work!

:greenthumb: sounds like a good plan Ex', trimming up the lower shaded stuff would be wise and help airflow... some upper fans too! She won't miss them much,...:vibe:... she's fixing to be a beaut' in bloom, so girder thy loins mate! :haha:
