Grow Mediums Is this too early for nutes

OK. Just being an overprotective parent ha-ha. You guys know how it is when you try something new. Just don't want to f it up but thanks for the advice and help. Hopefully I will get a better yield than I did in soil.
Ha ha been there dude this time last year started my first grow in coco haven't looked back love the stuff you will get some great advice on here the pro's always keep an eye on us newbies [emoji106]

Sweet and I have learned a lot just by taking a bit here and there from all and made my own way. Just seems too easy. I always had some kind of small issues in soil

Hey guys my babies went into final pots 3 days ago. Since they are seedlings I was wondering if me feeding them nutes now will be OK. I have fed them at 1/8 strength of gh flora micro and grow with 1 ml calmag. Coco was treated with calmag during soaking.

Hello,

I am also new to coco, have 40 days old plant.

How did you soak coco before use? Which brand do you use?

Dont you use EC meter? You start with somewhere about 0,8, what is 1/4 strenght of nutrients + 1 ml calmag most probably.

I grow in 15l airpot and proper watering is still a mystery for me, especially because of very different advices. Some say you start with everyday watering, some say every fifth day at the beginning.

My Think Different had been underwatered and underfed while I had been waiting for coco to dry a little bit. So I see that underfeeding is bigger danger as overwatering and it happens very quick if you wait.

One more thing, outrun has very high ph and very low EC at the beginning, so seems that enough water must go through to fullfill coco at first. And that is quite a lot of water (with calmag and nutr., of course), at least in Plagron Premium coco which I use.

Good Luck!

Hey gonzo here's what I did. I rinsed my coco off pretty well in a xlarge container with 10 gal of ph'd water and 10ml of calmag. So 1ml per gallon. Once the coco was rehydrated I drained what little bit of water that was left. I let that sit for a couple days turning it to help air out the coco. While it was still a little damp I potted the pots and let sit in tent while waiting for seed to germ. Coco was almost completely dry when I placed seed in and watered just around it a little. Been watering about 8oz water 2 time a day. So far no problems. As far as nutes I used .25ml in 2 gallon water no issues. Was mainly concerned I may been watering too much too quick but coco drying out kinda quick. So far no issues at all. Had a few different probs with soil is why I switched to coco.here is what I am using and been good to my reg garden veggies too

also haven't watered to runoff yet.

You should feed from the start. Coco has natural nutrient buffering so it will absorb and release as the plant needs. You should reconstitute with a mild fertilizer solution. Around 1/8 to 1/4 strength of the recommended lowest concentration. If they say 1-2 teaspoons per gallon, do a 1/4 teaspoon. I would recommend a plant starter like Fertilome or something else with rooting hormone.

Thanks hal for the info on how to reconstitute the coco. Most everything I read said calmag. Didn't even think about nutes.

I had done a few runs with coco and my current one and I have always gave then canna coco A&B 2.5ml per litre from the get go, but I water little and often when they are that small and by little I mean max like 25-50ml per baby but mine are in little pots until flower don't know if that helps but hay ho I tried

:growing:

Happy growing to ya

Yes, you want to water frequently and lightly at first. Then start to slowly increase the amount and time between watering. It stimulates the roots to colonize the whole pot, and lets you get lots of air to those roots. By the one month point you want a bit of run off every watering. About 15-20% to make sure no toxic salt build up occurs. Coco holds nutrients a lot in it's buffering quality.
