hi everyone,

Have been looking at these and the grows using bubble buckets decided I am going to get one just looking for a few pointers so I know what I'm doing when I start.

I seen the kit around 30pounds pot,net pot air pump air stone etc. I know I will have to get a better air pump after looking at journals maybe other stones and en ph tester and tds meter.

Is there anything else I will need? Or anything that will come in handy?

Also any advice with feeding etc will I need to buy different nutrients? I plan to get more anyway but have some AN products I use in soil would I be able to use these with the bucket?

Probably going to get it in the next few weeks along with another few things to make my next grow more successful. So I will continue reading and hopefully get some help from here so I'm ready.

Cheers,

Stu!

I was just looking at these on greatstuff hydro. I can't offer any advice, shame nobody's picked up on your post. Have you tried posting elsewhere in the forum?

Hi @Newtogrowing ,

I can offer some advice to help you along with your query.

First make sure you get a good brand PH meter and EC meter, check out the company Blue-lab if you like and get their Pen range. A bit expensive but the best piece of kit for the home grower on the market.

Second yes a these kits never come with great air pumps so if you are consdier getting a better air pump for the job, check out the company Hi-Blow, they have the best air pump on the market. If you want something that still good but cheaper check out Haeila.
If you are looking for better air stones to suit a good air pump have a look around for the disc shaped one. They produce a much finer burst of air whilst being able to use a little more pressure from you air- pump. Something like the one attached below.

Third get your self some kind of chiller to cool your water. The plants like it best at 18-22c , if you are not in that temperature range the plant will more than likely get root rot and believe me that is a pain. Haeila do very good chillers but again they are very expensive but totally worth it. If you are only doing a 1-4 bucket system then the smallest chiller they produce will do fine.

To answer your question regarding the Advanced Nutrients, yes you can use them with great success in DWC. I will warn you to stay away from Bud-Factor X as this foams up in the res and can cause problems to someone who is new to growing.

Besides that make sure you get yourself a product like ROOT ROT STOP , this can come in handy if any problems occur or the power cuts etc. IT will keep your roots alive if the chiller stops working.

Hope that helps.

Cheers forgot about this post haha since I posted this i have done a lot of reading, still to make the switch would still like to try it out.

The chiller is a good shout as I struggle with temps running my 600w hps, I was looking at the silent haiela pumps 30lpm for a single bucket and the round air stones aswell.

When I go for it I will probably just buy the oxy pot itself rather than the kit, I am shit with diy so making a bucket is out of the question as it will probably end in disaster haha.

The local grow shop sells decent ph meters, he refuses to stock the cheap models as there is constant problems with them but will probably order online anyway.

Nutes wise I will probably go for something else rather than an as they are expensive.

Was thinking things I need to get started are

Ph/ec meter
The pot itself
Air pump
Disc air stones
Some form of media for the net pots
Same with nutes
Chiller will probably be necessary

I think that is all anything I have missed? Also are there other single buckets similar to the Oxypots on the market?

Hopefully should be moving in the near future so will probably hold off until then but again thanks for the help.
