New Grower Jimmy's Newbie Grow

I'm pretty sure you can run more wattage if you add an exhaust fan at the top to suck the hot air out bro!

here is a pic of the fan etc. temp says 75 cos i just turned it all on  it gets to 84-86 eventually...

I was hoping you hadn't forgotten one but didn't like to say lol!

Are you exhausting into the same space as the intake is in?

lol

the air is expelled into the top-box, then out through a hole at the back....

Must just be the ambient temps causing it mate, we're in for cooler weather this weekend so you might get another bulb or two back on.

My cab gets on the hotter side because of the summer weather, so I just put the seedling on 50watts until its developed the set after the single blade leaves. Then bumbed it up to 75watts for a few days. Then 100watts a little after that. That helped me avoid frying my seedlings. Hope this helps. :Sharing One::goodluck:

EDIT: Oh, and from my growing exprerience so far. Your intake hole is to small. I had to make some pretty large intake wholes for mine to get the correct air flow. Even had to throw in some intake fans as well.

Double edit: I didnt see this whole second page of the conversation. lol. So, I was replying to your past post on the last page. Sorry :dunno:

Hi Jimmy and welcome to AFN!

I currently am only on my second grow so no advice on your upcoming grow. However, I do grow in a converted wine cabinet which is considerably smaller than your drobe with 224w of twisties.

Here are some things to think about:

-I believe you can make significant improvements but heat will always be something you have to watch. It comes with cabinet growing.
-The first thing I would do is make your intake larger because right now your cabinet is probably "unbalanced". (4" round exhaust = 12.5 sq inches, 3" square intake = 9 sq. inches.) My guess is that 4 inch sq intake (a lot of folks would say 4.5 inches) should improve the situation a bit, but not a total cure. Some folks say that 2 to 1 ratio between intake sand exhaust is the proper ratio
- If your door leaks you will cause temps to rise.
-Your grow will benefit from a reflector of some type to keep a higher percentage of the light in close proximity to the canopy.
-You may have a situation where your best bet is to locate the lights near your ceiling (heat source close to exhaust) and raise/lower your plants. Sounds strange but it may make sense.

LOL, I didn't see the second page either!

I'm growing in a converted wardrobe, and I agree with much of what you say :dig:
