New Grower Kat's first time

Yes, welcome, Kat. Great name by the way.... like it!

How'd you get rid of the fungus gnats?

Good luck with the grow...

@ Nugget, Thanks, but I stole the C02 gen off of utube!!! I can't take credit for using someone else's idea :p
@ Clyde, I HATE fungus gnats!!! Especially hard to get rid of if you're not using expensive chemicals. I baked the soil (Black Gold Organic) in my oven. You preheat oven to 180 F put the soil in no more than 4" deep, make sure soil is MOIST, not wet, cover with aluminum foil and stick in a oven temp meter. When the soil reaches 180 F, set oven timer to 30 mins. Remove soil from oven and spread out on old newspaper to absorb moisture and cool completely. This takes out a great deal of the nutrients so be prepared to mix in added nutes before planting your seeds. As an added precaution, I used a mix of peroxide and ph'd water and let it dry one more time (peroxide mix is 1 to 4, 1 cp peroxide to 4 cps water). That killed the little f_ks. :p

My morning pic update. My 2nd hasn't lost her seed leaves yet so, I'm not gonna add nutes till they fall off. I'm still stunned at how fast my 1st is growing!!! An inch every night!!! How will I know when she is in full flower? (yes, read Muddy's guide on Life Cycle, but am still unsure) Thanks for your patience and answers!!!!

Nice one, Kat - I don't like using chemicals either. Last time I had gnats I sorted them with neem oil and it worked a treat. I like the soil-baking idea, though. Another tool in the organic armory.

new toys.jpgmy soil Ph.jpg
I finally scraped enough cash together to get a soil ph meter and a "when to water" thingy. :p I have a water ph tester, and that is how I've been able to keep my girls going. I know it isn't the most wonderful digital meter, but, at least, I can now tell how the ph is doing in the soil. If I read this thing right, it's pretty close to spot on 6.5-6.8.

Coming along nicely SlinkyKat!hey'll be all twist n shout before ya know it!! :wiz:

Thanks Dude!!!! I'm also in the stages of making a better grow room in the basement. As I've told you, people that wouldn't understand are coming in May and I HAVE GOT to move the grow room. I've got everything I need here except the mylar, which will be here next week. Can't wait to get the final room set up and take pics!!!

A neighbor moved out next to me an left a bunch of pallets and I thought to myself "Hmm, I can make use of those." So I grabbed 4 of them and started sawing and nailing. The box is 3' 7" high and 3' 3 1/2" wide. That's around 12.69 square feet of grow space. Yeah, sorry the pic is sideways, just tilt your head to the left and look at it. ;)

My 1st girl seems to be slowing down a bit, only 1/2" growth last night. It could be cause it got a bit chilly last night, or she could be going into full flower, it's an unknown until tomorrow. My 2nd girl is growing like crazy and still hasn't shown pistols yet. I think she's gonna be a big one!!! 1st one is 35 days old, 2nd one is 16 days old.
