What is peoples favorite light regime when running Autos? Is there a point of diminishing returns ? I am thinking about 18/6 can i get some thoughts please

Fairly

I ran 18/6 to keep costs down a bit. But I know peeps do 20/4 with great results.

My two cents

Eek

Has anyone done a comparison yet to the different regimes. Over a years period that is allot of hydro. between running 20/4 to 18/6 it is 720 hrs difference in a year. Now break that down to weight lost by running less hours. If an equation can be firgured out by someone who know math better than I we could get this one figured out with a calculator. We are getting fleeced in ontario. half our bill is delivery charge these new electric meters are not working out at all when they do not work HYDRO one does a rough calculation on what you might have used then they charge you that. Go to www.brokenhydro.ca you dudes in england can get prepared for a fight by learning from our mistakes

That is a very hard thing to nail down from what I have seen, I am currently trying to compile a database where all 9 out of 10 variables are the same and the only difference is Lighting and comparing them.

Because there are so many different variables that affect yeild, potency and other desirable traits it is hard to say that this light cycle or that caused this specific desired trait(I hope I made that sound ok)

So for instance you and I could have the same lights, cycle, nutes and temp but you are running 50% humidity and I am at 20% we will have different outcomes based on that.

I am trying to get 100 grow journals where everything else is the same and analyze the difference lighting has on the overall outcome most specifically focusing on yeild

The reason I am doing this is because you can get good results running 18/6 or 20/4 or 24/0 I have gotten good results with all but until I analyze all of the data I will not be able to know for sure if that was a big factor in the grow.

I am currently under the impression with autos that because they are on a timer they need to grow as much as possible therefore 24 hours of producing photosynthisis is idea(this is just my theory)

It is a very interesting topic though and one you can get a million different answers to.

If the leccy bill is getting to you, I would say run 18/6 or 20/4 because in all honesty I don't think the difference is that noticable(it may be, but I don't have the imperical evidence to confirm it)

I think 18/6 will give a little more strectch, 24/0 will minimize stretching, 20/4 is the closest to the natural light schedule in the northern parts of the world like Northern Canada and Russia where Ruderalis is wild. There are tons of threads talking about this, it doesnt really matter whether you go 18/6 or 20/4. Though some people experience problems when running 24/0 ive noticed. I would say that 20/4 should give higher yields because of the extra photosynthesis, but thats debateable. You should try 22/2, i think thats actually what the light schedule is naturally up there. I dont think ive seen anyone try 22/2 yet.

Master Tang says he's rocked 24/0 auto grows with obviously amazing results. Personally, myself and many others actually, are of the thought that plants need a darkness rest. Mine seem most happy with 18/6 or 19/5, but 20/4 is popular too. Frankly, I'm more unsure than ever about hours lol. As for the line of diminishing results, it's probably between 24 on and 20/4... But I'll be sticking with my 18 or 19 on :)

I have temp issues when the lights go out so I run 21/3 unless I'm waiting for germed/buried seeds to surface...at which point I'm running 24/0 for the constant heat.

That is exactly my deal, here in colorado it gets cold like really cold(last year -34F) but I have no issues as my lights without vent can get the room to 100 no problem. But when the lights go out it gets cold and I dont want to put a heater in there so I think I am going to try the 22/2 maybe as it is what they get naturally.

Also I havent seen this topic addressed much, what about light stress and hermies? I know in growing photos I was obsessed with total darkness, now if I have a few light leaks is that ok. I guess my question is are autos light stress resistant? My logical mind says heck yeah because of where the Rudy grows naturally for a few months up there in never really gets dark like totally dark.

Anybody got any thoughts or expereince with autos going hermie due to light leaks?
