Light schedule for flower

I just heard someone suggest 12/12 for flower with autos, I have been doing 20/4 so far in veg... Is there a train of thought here or personal preferance.
Someone who doesn't have a clue. I have heard 16 but feel that is even to low. 18-20 on seems to be the majority. Some go with 24 but I think they should have a bit of a break.

I read somewhere more than 18 is a waste. I run mine at 20 for autos. The 4 off is to give the lights a chance to cool off rather than any preference for the plants. The reason you get good results from autos is because you can light them up all day long during flower. You may, arguably, finish a plant quicker, but it'd be a tiny.

I've done some test grow with 12/12, but it's not worth it. You can check in my signature and in Mephisto forum.

Great, sounds like you have done a bit of testing, what do you like best as a ight schedule. Theese are me at 20-4 at 4 weeks. My first grow so kinda wondering about size also.

12/12 for flowering an auto will debilitate the grow. Auto's have no light preclusions. I run my cobs around the clock, others use 18/6, 20/4. About the only time I use 12/12 for an auto is if I need to try and jump start flowering.

hey troops, thought id stop by and chuck my 50p on the table too. please feel free to tell me otherwise if you dont agree. im still learning aswell. but to me, the most reasonable sounding logic ive read so far is that the roots grow more when the light is off as the plant isnt focusing as much energy into trying to reach the light. wich ultimately is what it wants to do. its survival instincts tell it to get as close to the light source as possible to have a higher chance of success. by leaving the lights on 24/7 there would be more energy to grow the plant taller and the plant would indeed put more into growing taller but because of this, less energy would be spent getting the roots to develop so it would be a negative as the plant would lose out on suction power so to speak. you can have the worlds most powerful engine but youl never get it full throttle if the fuel supply lines are too small. i choose to believe this but ive never seen any official proof iether way tbh. oh and also, i went with 19/5 just to be awkward as nobody seems to like odd numbers for some reason.
