Hi,

I first of all Its my first post here. I never grow auto before, just photo outside and I want to try my chance at a few auto in my basement. And after looking the forums for a few weeks now and reading stuff about cobs, led drivers and all. I found a little detail that bug me in all that great adventure it will be to grow auto in the comfort of my home. I only have 4 foot of height in my basement. I was thinking about driving the cobs at a low amperage like 700ma or 1050ma to prevent burn and put some little training on the plant. With all that said, Im looking to know if my reasoning are right or not. All the strain will be Mephisto genetics if you guys want to know.

thanks and sorry if my english is unreadable, its not my first language.

Welcome to Afn. Indoor growing without major modifications to your home or space is difficult. That's a main reason why cobs and efficient leds are becoming so popular. What is the space you plan to grow in? Running cobs at very low amperage is beneficial as far as it's own cooling and room cooling go. They are softer on the plants and more efficient meaning more light vs heat

I was thinking abouth 6 plan in a 4x8 little room. The room will be bigger than the grow area because I dont want to pack everything up and have a good air circulation for the passive heatsinks. I want to be able to rotate the plant so a little more room around is also appreciated.

The light you build is really based on your budget. Since you have allot of space I would either go with citizen 1212 or 1812 cobs which are both below $20 each.running cooler also bring the heatsink cost down to. If you plan 25-30 watts per cob and 2 cobs per plant your at 12 cobs. I would recommend 3 separate bars of 4 cobs. As you continue to grow you can always add in another bar if needed. How does this sound?

I was thinking abouth the same thing but with 3 bar of 3 cobs. I dont know if I have enough budget for 12 cobs because it means a second driver. With the new meanwell 320h I can run 10-11 36volts cobs at 700ma. but will it be enough light for a quality yield ?

Sorry for the delay. The larger drivers are nice but require a different way of attaching the cobs. The bjb holders are only rated for 150v and ideal 250v. You would be better off getting smaller drivers and running 1 per bar. Cobkits has the 120-48a driver which is a 100 watts for $32. Doing it this way is nice as each bar is independent and cost is very close to the same. You can always start with 1 bar and add more as funds come.

Do you have any experience with the citizen 1212. 9 of them with 3 driver seems to be a good way to go without spending a lot.

Yes that's a great package. You can get the heatsinks from northern grow lights for an excellent price as well
