So I'm near the chop :ama:

I want to do the fan leaf manicure and perk the girls up for some AFN photo-modelling sessions :bone:

But I've always wondered... When I see the pictures around, all the fan leaves are gone, but also the sugar-trim! I for one use sugar trim for oils, balms, edibles... not everyone wants/needs sugar trim though...

But apart from the fan leaves, isnt the rest essential for a nice slow and gradual dehydration before final trim, and then cure? Won't the buds dry out too fast and become flimsy?

bumbing because of urgency... any takers?

In my experience removing all leaf material does not affect the drying time, if you have a nice regulated dry space. Obviously if you leave your buds on stems and full of leaves it will take a bit longer but I wouldn't worry about it. :smokebuds:

i trim everything off just for less stalks in the final bud when its ground up. either ways fine anyway imo.

I always manicure as close to me buds as possible, as I too use the sugar leafs for oils. I've never had a crumbly bud problem associated with it. Just check your buds regularly and it shouldn't be a problem IMHO.

So I was all over two automazar yesterday, I knew I had a lot of work coming, but f*-me! loool ... I took me a couple hours to do just the big fans, so I just chopped it to dry and will do the fine trim once dry.
Just dont have the time unfortunately, working weekend :joint: But next time I'll try to do a better job before drying and compare . But I do live in a very warm place with low relative humidity, so I am a bit scared to bone-dry the bud due to excessive manicure. I did a paper-bag 5 day dry, and another nug went just 1 extra day and it became fluffy and crumbly... Where I am at I really think long stems and bud leaves are essential for a slow even dry... but I will try it when I manage to have a full day just for this

Thanks for your input :head:

I've tried it both ways and find it easier to trim and manicure before drying. The leaves come off easier when fully hydrated. Once they are dry they tend to crumble and make mess. I don't even like to trim a plant that is wilted as the fan leaves won't easily come off with a downward motion like they do when still wet. I usually remove all the remaining fan leaves and bigger bud leaves while still on the plant, take my pictures, then start taking a branch at a time and doing the final manicure.

Muddy, how to you the dry then? Paper bag? I suspect therefore that you don't notice any loss is dry quality using this method?
