Has anyone used the new mars hydro 144 x 5w led? If so, how did it work for you? I am particularly concerned about heat issues as I am growing in a 2x4x5 tent. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

As long as you have Proper Intake and Exhaust You will be Fine. They Run A little Warm but nothing Crazy.

What size exhaust fan are you running if you are? That size area I'd imagine even a 4 inch exhaust fan venting the air outside your room where the grow is would keep it at ideal temps.

Hi Weedman,

Yes I was planning on a 4" inline. You think that would work?

Can you give me the Name of the fan you were looking at or a link I'd like to see the CFM rating. But yes without seeing the fan it should do a excellent job will it just be Passive intake from just pulling air from the room the Grow is in?

If that's the case be sure to vent your exhaust outside your room or you will be pulling the hot air right back in.

Also if I remember correctly I think Mars updated their Heat sinks on the 5w Reflectors.

You have a 40 Sq ft room and you want to replace the air 3-5 Times per Minute so anything between 140-200 CFM would work well.

Here's a good buy for a fan and filer both rated at 190cfm

Thanks Weedman. That's the one I was looking at 190cfm with passive intake.

@Weedman30 I have a 2x4x6 tent. An really struggling with picking my led guys. I'm going Mars 2 series but don't know if I should get 2 400w or 2 700w. I pulled over a pound on my first grow out of there with 4 autos using a 600w hps. I'd like to match yield while increasing my quality. Just can't decide how much light I actually need to compete with my 600. After one more grow I will b upgrading to a 4x4 tent and will purchase 2 more lights again to match what I do in the current 2x4 tent. I have about 58 square feet. How much power would I need to create a 50w per square foot grow?

Hey what's up Pete?

If you were keeping the 2x4x6 id say rock the 2 400w Mars2 in there and it would be Stellar but your moving up to a 4x4 eventually after this Harvest. Just for the Sole reason of that I would go with the 700w. Now don't get me wrong the 400ws are a lot cheaper when buying 4 panels 2 here and 2 there. They say the coverage is 2.5x2.5ft on the 400w. I have a 400w/900w/1600w and I subtract half a foot of whatever Mars Says on their coverage. So say you were to run the 4 400w Mars2 you'd save a few hundred in total price and still have strong coverage with zero fading off towards the edges with 4 panels in a 4x4. I know I kinda contradicted myself saying go with the 700w then explained that the 400w would do excellent in there as well, but I did that to show the 400w can get the job done so the 2-700w in a 2x4x6 will Do great as well as 4-700w in a 4x4.

If I had the extra cash to spare and didn't need any other equipment I'd buy the 700ws if you want to save some Loot but still produce then the 400w.

Shit you can even do the 400w now and next 2 get the 700w after harvest. Unless you want to stay neat and have matching lights.

Now as for 50w a sq ft it's a different story with LED. Led is all about Spectrum,Par,Umols, etc.

But in a
2x4x6- 8 sqft of canopy (400w actual for 50w a sqft)
4x4x7 - 16 sqft of canopy (800w actual)

With Leds I shoot for 30w a sqft At a absolute bare Minimum.

Hope this helps

This helped a lot actually and explained how we come to the watts per square and which units are measured and how. I guess honestly I think in wrapping my head around all this too far but I guess I can afford the 2 700s. But actual draw will b the same as my 600hps. So I'll only b saving money on cooling which isn't an issue because my 440cfm stealth fan and 6x24 carbon filter pull so much passive outside air I'm fine with Temps right now. So at that point buying 2 700s for my tent the only gain I will b looking at is better denser buds and about the same yield? But if I buy 2 400s I'll b pulling only 400w actual draw and thus it won't match up to my hps would it? This will b my second grow ever and I don't know why I'm even switching up but I want better quality with same or increased yields. So all things aside I'm purchasing better lights to do a better job, but not really saving much in the long run? I'm cornfused. Lol:shrug::crying::pass:

If this helps, I keep my plants kind of short because I do heavy lst on them and try to keep my canopy as level as possible. With my growing style do I really need multiple lights or would one big one do it? Like a 900 or most likely a 1200 is what I really really want but everyone says multiple small lights are better than one big one. ...but I probably grow different too....I need to smoke another one lol
