cool, I was thinking RO original also.

I posted this under another thread I had going. What do you guys/gals think?

I think I have decided to go with 70% roots organics, 30% perlite, and the Mephisto Amendment in the bottom half of the autopot. I was contacted by Mephisto today and will be ordering the amendment tomorrow I also LOVE real growers recharge and it is the only thing I will be watering into my grow with distilled water. I want/need to keep it simple. (Of course I have calmag, etc. on hand just in case!) I am going to germ the seeds in paper towels, then once they show tails I will put them into root riots (love them) and into my propagator with a heat mat. When roots start showing I will plant riots into 4" "cow pots" filled with roots organic. When roots start poking out of cow pots I will plant the cow pot and all into the autopot which will be layered with the amendment.. Now if I can just dial in the waterings for the little ones I think I might be OK!

Roots original has a shitload of perlite in it already and I really don’t think it needs any more added to it. Others may disagree but side by side with something like fox farms happy frog for example the difference is night and day. Actually, happy frog with 30% perlite added to it is about what roots original looks like out of the bag. Also, if you are using COBs and distilled water I’m fairly certain you are going to need to use that calmag.

I responded over there as well, but I’m posting it here too. Roots really does have a shitload if perlite in it.

Sounds like a plan to me MassMom, good luck. Condolences on the loss of your seedlings, that's always a bummer.

I agree with everybody recommending Mephisto seeds but I can't speak to their amendment. It does seem easy though.

Well, I have (3) Northern Cheeze Haze Mephisto seeds that just shipped out (woot woot!) and I have been in touch with Mephisto in regard to the amendment. It is real easy. You just mix the dry amendment with soil and fill the bottom half of the pot. Then fill the top with just roots organic.
easy peasy. I will be ordering the amendment in the next day or so. :smoking:

lots of us have the inkbird t308 that does temps.but its an option

@archie gemmill I picked up the 308 controller. Hopefully install it today. That youtube vid will help.

its a handy unit and saves a plug on the gang.a bit of fuzzy logic to set up 1st time,couple of tweeks,fit and forget

My tracking says they should be here by tomorrow night!! oh lordy, I dont even have my rapid rooters or my roots organics yet...I need to get my fanny to the grow store tomorrow. Im so excited like a kid at christmas .....I LOVE GROWING!!!!....and I love all my dudes here on AFN, it would not be half as exciting without you all. (and I would have NO clue what I am doing..ha ha)

WELL, hello there hon. Welcome!!....it may be quite here until the weekend when I start up my new grow, but grab a chair, have a smoke, and coffee is in the back of the room
