MC 2.0 doses?

Here's what I believe is the easiest way to use megacrop.
Equipment:
1. 1 gallon of known ppm water in a jug. Those distilled water grocery store jugs are perfect.
2. 0.1 gram accuracy scale.
3. Small container with a lid to hold a hundred grams or so MC.
4. Simple calculator to compute amount of MC needed.
5. Measuring spoon(s).
Preliminary, one-time measurements:
1. Add exactly 1.0 g MC to the 1 gal water, and mix well.
2. Measure MC ppm for future reference, by taking ppm with MC minus ppm of water. For me, it came out to be around 120 ppm.
Feeding:
1. Use the calculator to determine how many grams of megacrop are needed to make a known amount of the desired ppm nutrient.
For example, if we wanted 1/2 gal of 500 ppm nute, which is 250 ppm MC, then we'd use MC = (250 ppm)*(1 g MC)/(120 ppm) = 2.1 g, or putting it more simply, divide the desired ppm by 120.
3. Put the jar of MC on the scale, zero the scale, and then remove enough MC with a measuring spoon until the scale reads (negative number) the amount that we want to use. In this example that's -2.1 g.
4. Mix and use.

I'm still using the old version, and completed a successful DWC grow using only MC and nothing else whatsoever, except pH Up/Dn and clorox.
My only complaint is that the autos got much bigger than expected, and I should've topped them.
I never went above 450 ppm, then down to about 250 ppm near harvest, and the plants had no deficiencies.

LOL. I don't mean to laugh but there is some irony in saying "easiest" followed up by all of this. Easy would of been, take two 5 gallon buckets of water and put 3/4 scoop of MC in each and stir. You now have 10 gals of 1/2 strength nutrient. :shooty:Fin

This is for hydro only, not solid media, and I should've made that clear.
The pre-mix method will have 10 gal of nutrient, but we hydro growers won't know what the ppm is without measuring it.
If my tank is 1/2 gal low, and its ppm needs to be raised by 20 ppm, then I won't know how much of those 10 gallons to use.

The execution of this is much easier than the explaining of it.
It takes me about a minute daily to calculate and mix up the exact amount of nutrient to keep the res at the correct ppm.

I know. I grow in hydro as well. So lets take 20 gal tank like i use. Thats even easier. Add 2 scoops of MC. Done. Hydro specific :Top off water @ 1/2 strength nutes daily. Day 7-10 start over.
Ppm is good for seeing if your plants are uptaking nutrients but I would never use it to calculate nutrients for mixing. Thats too much math and unnecessary. Ppm goes down ,plants are taking more nutes, ppm goes up plants are drinking more water.

You folks adding extra stuff to MC 2.0...noticing any difference? I’m at 4gms/gal and in soil. Flowering now too. Itching to try by MC bud explosion but MC 2.0 is supposed to have it all??

That's just what we was talking about. A lot of people are still adding things. Im attempting to run it on its own. Atleast until I notice unfavorable results.

Sweet Candy is a must for me the kelp isnt added to the MC I use it alone with nothing added. I want use BE this grow unless needed

My kelp product...is called Medina Plus. Many trace minerals and of course kelp/seaweed. Excellent foliar feed and even better soil activator. Used throughout my first grow and is my go to for my flower/veggie gardens in my landscape. And it’s used to soak my rapid rooters for indoor grows. 12 seeds for 12 plants so far.

As you may know, strictly mc2.0 for this grow to see how simple I can make it!! Fingers crossed...although the bag of bud explosion looks tempting for me at each watering. I must hold back from using to get a good indicator of mc2.0.

When you guys mention PPM, are you using 500 or 700 scale? I apologize for the newb question but i'm new to using an EC pen.
From what I have seen around here, most seem to use the 0.50 scale or as you call it the 500 scale. If my EC is 1.00 then I know it’s 500ppm.

Not a noob question at all, it's good to know. I switched to using EC values as it is universal while ppm as you know is not. Good to know most people here are using the 0.50/500 scale tho for conversions.

Where are you in your grow? Im at week 3 and so far so good with just the MC. Glad to see someone else putting it to the test. Do you have a journal so we can compare the two girls and see if we get similar results?
