Next grow I'll drop the bean off center. I need to LST these grows. Putting the bean off center will eliminate the open space and have a more esthetic look.
The "Blue" or VEG spectrum is 6500K "Red" or FLOWER spectrum is 2700K. The spiral CFLs are 42w (true wattage) and the large CFL is 200w (true wattage). The packages of CFLs will give you the equivalent wattage along with the true wattage; example the 42w CFL is equivalent to 150w of a standard bulb. ALWAYS go by the "True" wattage in calculating the grow wattage. The minimum wattage for a cannabis grow is 50w per square feet. A 3'x3' area would need a minimum of 450w of lighting.
I hope that answers some questions.
Go to growweedeasy.com and check out their site. They can answer lighting questions with more detail than my simple brain can. http://www.growweedeasy.com/grow-lights
My goal here at AFN is to show anyone can grow good cannabis with just using CFLs and to grow FULL size plants in less than 10 sqft. Simple basic stuff. New members may think they need very expensive equipment. Large grow tents, go nuts in lighting etc. That's not necessarily true. A person can grow for their personal use a great grow by using CFLs and some very basic knowledge.
1st is good genetics.
2nd is research the strain(s) and get short or medium height cannabis plants.
3rd is good soil or medium
4th is adequate lighting for each grow cycle
5th is just enough food to make your girls happy. Less is More.
6th is a Wet/Dry cycle. Total saturation to near soil dryness.
7th is proper indoor temps and humidity. (although Chester can grow cannabis in very a very warm to hot environment)
8th is let the girls stretch to the max before starting a FLOWER nutrient cycle.
9th is mimic the outdoor seasons inside.
10th Have fun.
I only grow for my personal use. Two plants are the max for my set up. You don't need fancy expensive equipment to grow great cannabis. That's my true goal on AFN.
I think you do a great job of showing other's how nice a plant CFLs can grow ... have you ever gone into detail on your dry and cure technique ? I'll bet it's as professional as your grows.
