Indoor MI5 question

Well all ten plants are above ground as of 10 pm last nite ... I took some pics but things are so small it isn't very interesting ... 3 of the 4 "extra" seeds are doing fine ... I just don't know where I can make room to grow them ... my camera is old and uses floppy disc for storage ... I can only find one floppy ... I will need to make a run to best buy for a pack ... if they even carry dam things anymore ...

They're off! :High 5:

wow! That camera sounds like a relic! I didn't even know you could still buy floppy discs!

Good luck with the grow Slarti ^_^

That is what concerns me. As I remember it was about 1998 when I purchased the camera. I paid either 900 or 1200 dollars for the camera. It is a 1.2 Meg pixel and I see the new cameras are 40. I will have to check and see if they carry the floppies in the store. I may have to order online.

the final "extra" seed has sprouted above ground ... I hate to toss out plants so I am going to let them go in the solo cups until the root system will support transplanting ... I am going to put them in some soda bottles I cut the top off ... what ever I get will be fine and more than if I toss them ...

Here we are at day 6. I planted seeds on sept 29 and all were above ground on oct 1st. So I am calling oct 1st day one for these plants. I looked at the plants in solo cups and you can see roots out to the side of the clear inner cup. These plants look as thou they are loving the FFOF. But at this stage I doubt they are feeding on the soil yet. I will water them tomorrow or the next day. I was giving them a little everyday I think it is time to back off.

Are the pots dry? They look like they could use a little water from looking at your pics

they are well watered ... I put some soil on top to compensate for settling ... that is why it looks that way ... the bags are still hefty ... I have been giving them a little water daily ... don't want to over water ...

Here it is day 8 on this grow. The last grow there was a plant with the first set of real leafs were twisted a little. But from then on all was good. I think it may be genetic and nothing to worry about. The plants are well watered. A couple of days ago i top dressed the pots so that is why you see dry soil. If you pick the bags up they are heavy so plenty of moisture. I may have over watered a little. Now I am watering every 3 days. Will water tomorrow the twisting may be the plant switching to feeding off the soil as well. Soil is FFOF so there plenty of nutes avaible. Will start feeding them in 2 or 3 weeks unless the plants tell me different.

OK, on day 21 all seems to be going well. I started this grow with 10 seeds planted in 10 three gal. geo pots. I was not totally confident that the seeds, which were made in my last grow, were viable. I planted 4 more seeds in solo cups. Just in case some in the 3 gal pots failed to sprout up above ground. All 14 seeds sprouted and took off just fine. Now on day 21 I have culled 1 male so 13 plants remain. Eleven of those 13 have pistils and the remaining 2 appear to be males but I am still not sure. In the mean time I germinated 5 photoperiod plants and put them in solo cups. At this time only 2 have sprouted above ground. My theory is when it is time to flip the photoperiods the MI5's will be ready to harvest. As it stands now I may have room for the 2 that sprouted. I was going to leave the MI5 plants in solo cups go and take what ever they produced. But decided to transplant them into 2 liter soda bottles that I cut the top off. Anyway the one male I culled had a very well developed root ball. It was in one of the soda bottles. This root ball was larger than any I have grown so far, this is my 5th grow ever. I think it is because I used FFOF on this grow. I am going to start adding nutes next week. I still need to get a PH meter. I am going to add one more HPS to this grow. I will have 2 150 Watt HPS and I can add as many as 10 CFLs @ 2800 lumens each 5 @ 27K & 5 @ 65K. I don't know if I can integrate the photos and autos but will try. I want to keep the grow area full of plants. I want to order some more seeds of a different strain been looking at Russian Rocket Fuel. I am a little concerned about what is going on at the Chicago USPS however.

Pictures from day 46 of this grow. The plants seem to be doing fine. I can't find any evident issues. I have started to trim fan leafs to let in more light. These plants should have at least 3 or 4 more weeks to put on flowers. I plan to go to straight water after Thanksgiving. When I started this grow I almost did not bother putting the HPS security up and just going with CFLs. When it became evident how much of a positive difference using a HPS made I purchased an additional HPS. The security light does not belong to me so I can't make modifications. It is in an enclosed case and generates extra heat. Also the lens narrows the beam some. It also, because of the enclosure, weighs twice as much as the new light. The new light has a very nice pattern and is 150 W instead of 100 for the security light. I am going to order another light like the new one. The fan I normally run to gently make the plants sway seems to take care of the heat just fine. I think this will be so even in the middle of summer. I did not take care enough on this grow to control stretch. I will do better on the next. If I can get results like this grow. I will be able to grow enough for my med requirements. I was going to switch to Black Star 204 W arrays but don't think I will based on this results. The two HPS lights cost 160.00 and two BS arrays are about 600.00. Energy consumption and heat are about the same so I think I will stay with the HPS lighting. I changed quite a bit on this grow when compared to my previous efforts. I am now using geo pots, Ionic nutes, FFOF, and better lighting. A little more tweaking and I think I will achieve the results I have always desired. Thanks to all here at AFN for the help and coaching. It is paying off with results! I will update this small journal with pictures and weights at harvest in the near future. One more question ... I just started trimming fan leafs to let in more light is this too soon or too late? I am concerned at stressing the plants.

Here are a few pics of the gals:

I should take this pic over to the apartment management office ... and ask for them to send a guy over to weed the tub!
