Harvest & Curing Moldy Buds

Paper bagged my Swiss Cheese for a week. Put it in mason jars and burped daily. This morning I noticed white mold on the buds. Damn!!! Three ounces of moldy bud.

I've searched the net and besides making Hash Oil. The water cure maybe of some help.

I took the buds and they are no soaking in two mason jars. Going to change the water twice a day (daily for sure) for seven days.

Any ideas? Too late; the buds are now soaking.

All i can say is throw it away...Dont risk your own health for some bud...

Sooo lemme get this right..you grew chopped and dried your plant..dried and then Jarred your plant..did you use Boveda pack at all?Im guessing not?!..? either way..but you now have visable mold on your Dry'ish buds now..well..there are a few schools of thought here actually.

1: throw it out...

2: chop out the moldy buds and keep a close eye and cut out.Dont smoke!!

3: water cleanse n cure and make an Oil after clipping mold out.Dont Smoke!

4: cut out mold area(s) and water or dry ice extract and blend with an oil or butter.Dont Smoke!

Those are the options Ive seen and I would say are viable if done right and you have not waited too long.

My take is if its bad(Pics?) toss it or clip it all out.you'll totally lose some bud..but after its all cut out break out the eye glasses n give a deeper look and flash dry it and brew into some oil or an extract of some type..thats my advise IF your wanting to keep it..but in all honesty your safest bet is to mulch it man..trash..sorry. but again,many variables play a part to some degree.

again if you decide to keep it know that there could be some rather large health issues if its bad or your sensetive to things such as that.Best of luck buddy.

It's situational. OP seems to be dealing with quite a bit more than that, but if I had a jar full of it curing and i found some mold, yes, I'd throw it all out. Mold is mold is mold, if it's there you did something wrong or missed something along the way. Sometimes something can be ruined for good, and bud is one of those things. I've thrown out large amounts before and I'll likely do it again.

If it's in the jar and it developed there, yeah. We've all snipped off moldy buds on a plant, that's a different animal. You still throw the moldy parts out, and toss all of it if it's been curing in a jar. Be smart, not greedy.

Well I am smart and not greedy LMFAO!! I toss bud out all the time.That was my question actually.if its in a small container how quickly and/or completely ruin the buds..Ive saved plenty of bud in my day if its has small amount..just like ya say curing in a small place has most likely infested it all.Soo,thanks...and Im still not greedy..lol.:Sharing One: thanks for the info.

I read a thing online that there is really only one type of that is actually severely poisonous. All the rest isnt supposed to have anything that dangerous; in fact mold is in the air thats one of the method it travels in. So every day breath in mold. Now devils advocate the type of weed most of us are trying to grow is of medicinal value. You wouldn't buy moldy food, and for sure you wouldnt buy moldy medicine. I got a little bit of grey mold in one of my jars and trashed it. I just found it surprising that we all breath the stuff in already anyway.

Water Cure with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

This is an update on the cured bud mold.

Note: I've read all the AFN members advise on the Swiss Cheese mold. I've researched agricultural methods of saving products suspected with a mold issue. I also completed a seven day Water Cure. Changing the water twice a day. On the third day I added 1/2 cup of 3% H2O2 @ gallon of water. Filled the jars with a steady flow of the H2O2 solution. Each 1/2 quart jar got a good overflow of it and then let it sit for the next water change. The buds that had mold instantly started to bubble; just like when we put H2O2 on a cut finger. When the water was changed all the foaming was washed out and the jars were given just clean water for the rest of the cure. On the eight day I drained the buds and put them on a window screen and put them in a dark room with a small fan for ventilation. After twelve hours the smaller buds were drying quickly. After twenty four hours they were ready to try. I put each bud under a microscope and there was no sign of mold. Water curing will wash out all the impurities leaving just trichomes and very little veg matter. The bong hit was a match head size piece of bud. The smoke is very smooth and clean tasting; no weed smell in the smoke. The ash was white. That one bong hit was really all I needed to function.

Now I realize that it's not wise to be smoking moldy weed. I'am going to use the water cured buds as an Ever Clear tincture. However there was no need to throw the bud out. Water Curing is the way to go if you want an alternative method of curing. I'll be posting a Water Cured thread later.
