Honestly I don't believe in any moon phase effect except for the night light it provides, which may have some effects on growth behaviour especially for photosensitive cannabis in flowering transition.
Maybe it also affects plant metabolism on a larger level, can't say. But that's just about light, not gravity or other effects.
The lunar magnetic field is very weak, to detect it we needed a satellite in moon's orbit because it's unnoticable from earth's surface.

I never used any planting calendar and had always good success with seedlings and pretty much everything else. The factors which affected sprouting, yields, potency or pest control were all related to the environment and genetics.

plant material is made up of maybe 80% water a human is around 70% water. a little to the N,E. of where I live is the bay of fundy, the moon raises the sea level every 12 hours 18 ft. the highest tides in the world. if the moon can do that to the Atlantic ocean, then it must also effect plant and animal behavior. they say the full moon can make people go crazy, there might be a basis in science, the pressure in the human body must rise during a full moon. so the plants are even more sensitive to this effect because they have a higher water content.

Well, we could go on deep into this matter but I still can't see it working so simply.
Water and also everything else is being affected by gravity, no need to take in account only the water in the plants but need to do it with everything else too.
The pressure changes in humans would be measurable with full moons and yet there is no confirmation of it. Also the tides and lunar phases hardly have any correlation(tides twice per day(always different), phases once a month) so it just brings more confusion when trying make sense of it.
The only way to do it is to experiment but also to arrange the experiments in such a way so we can isolate every effect and be able to measure it and explain it.

Until then I can only smile at all the calendars with planting advices, yet without any explanation for them.

Haven't planted on moon time, such a short growing season, need to plant when I need to plant, can't wait for calendar. If effect was profound seems it would exert at germ time, haven't notice difference in germ rate during different moon phases, always seem to germ 3-6 days in green house

In theory it make sense to go with the rhythm of nature but all tests I have done do not prove it works any better or worse. When I plan to soak seeds I try to soak the seeds the night of the first quarter, as seeds take a day or two to show a tail.
Having said that, I don't stress if I soak seeds on another moon phase.

I am big time into sport fishing, and the experts say moon phases play a huge part in fish activity. My fishing bro put a lot of faith into the phases and for a few years we planned trips around moon phases. As with growing, weather trumps moon phases. We plan around weather now and are more successful than using moon phases as a trip planner. I still laugh when our most successful days are days that are "poor fishing" according to the lunar schedule. :D
