Indoor Muddy's Blackskull Auto Test Grow

Hi Muddy,

first off, your plants look really great. I do have a question though if you don't mind? I see in post #25 that you were still feeding veg nutes at day 39. Am i right in thinking that if the plant is still growing in structural size it is still good to carry on feeding veg nutes? does this still count if the the plant has started flowering?

thanks

Sorry I haven't updated, I've been very busy getting in my outdoor crop. Still have 3 more plants to go and once they are hanging I'll have some time to get some pics and an update.

Right on. Happy harvest.

you got it brotha...they're not in full flower until vertical growth stops.

I run my veg nutes 3/4 of the way. I stop with them probably around the last 3 weeks. If I stop I get a lot more browning and ugly in my leaves. Plus using LED's requires more N which you dont find in to many flower nutes.

Now dont get me wrong I also start adding flower nutes when they start flowering. Using organics I can mix the 2 in the same water with no issues to the plant. I have heard some chemical nutes cannot be mixed or it will cause some type of nute locking for the veg nutes.

Thanks, appreciate that. Yes, I've been feeding veg nutes through about week 6. That was suggested to me by Stitch and it makes sense. The first buds we see on autos are really pre flowers. If you notice they will get to a certain size and stay at that size while the plants continues to grow and add new nodes. Weeks 3-6 can have explosive growth so they still need the N.

That's an interesting idea. We're seeing where LEDs also require more cal/mag when grown soil less. Maybe feed veg nutes the whole grow with cal/mag and add in something like PK13.14 for flower. I just might have to try that. LEDs, especially the GLHs do use nutes differently than other lights. Did you use that method on the Phototron grow?

All great stuff guys. I too am totally organic from liquid nutes to soil so I often wondered about that... How long to use Veg nutes but when I use a soil that's higher in N I don't typically have to use it so far into the grow... Just food for thought. And to back up Scott817 I do that as well... mix veg and bloom nutes together in the same mix.

Can't wait for your picture update Muddy! Great to hear you had a nice outdoor harvest! Cheers on that as well!

Thanks WVR. Still have two more plants to go, Amnesia and Power Bud. I'll be picking the Amnesia tomorrow but the PB still needs another week or so. Looking like I'll have close to 5 lbs. by the time everything is in. Eight plants, eight strains with 7 new ones to add to my stash. :hump:

My apologies to all who subbed this thread. I'm usually very good about updating my grow logs but this one just got away from me. I got involved in getting my photo harvest in and this log, as well as these plants, suffered for it. I promise I'll do better with my next grow log.

I ended up stunting these girls a little and the yields are not what I had hoped or what I think these strains are capable of. I ran into what I believe was a bit of salt buildup that caused some lockout. This happened right around week 7 and I was so busy I never got a chance to flush them properly. By the time I got a chance they were so close to finishing that I just let them be.

Just to refresh, this grow was a test of some new Black Skull auto, 2 each of Pineapplegum and Jack Matic and one Diesel Matic. The Jack Matic did the best, producing 52 and 56 grams. One of the Pineapplegum was a runt and only produced 14 grams. The other gave 50. The Diesel Matic was also a runt and only produced 11 grams. Had I paid closer attention to them I believe the yields on the Jacks and the PG would have been closer to 70 grams each. Except for the Diesel, which was a single cola plant, the others were all well branched, with between 4 and 12 side branches. At first I thought these plants would be pretty tall as they did start off very fast. But in the end the 3 big ones were all about the same height, 16". But they did spread a lot, so much so that where I can usually fit 4 plants under my GLH LED, I had to move one plant to my other area to give the other 3 more room.

I only took it down and weighed it out yesterday, so it's still curing. I did try the Jack Matic yesterday and was quite pleased with it. Even green it smoked smooth and gave a mellow sativa high that was pretty long lasting. I'm going to give the Diesel Matic a try here in a little bit. Then maybe tomorrow I'll sample the Pineapplegum. I'm very curious to try it as I also grew the photo version of it this year. The photo version is a nice indica dominant cross so I want to see how the auto version compares. Once I get them cured a few weeks I'll give a more thorough smoke report.
