New Grower my bud isnt dank

I think I got your problem. Expectation. There is nothing wrong with the plants but what you expect the plant to be. You will find different pheno's in your seeds, so they will not always be the same. You had one AKR that you are measuring the rest against. It could be that the one you liked so much was a fluke and ran against what the majority of AKR's perform. It sounds to me like you are chasing something very numinous.

I have tried a few different strains and they all just don't taste good or rather taste and smell how I want them too. It could be that I need to flush them longer? So far I have been flushing them twice in about 9 or 10 days. As far as curing goes I'm pretty sure I have that under control. I was getting about 8 ounces per harvest in my previous tent but now with the new tent I'm looking about 14 ounces or so. I know that the AKR has the potential to be dank because I have had 1 plant out of all of them which was really dank giving me the idea that it is possible. The reason I'm sticking with the AKR is for the simple fact that it is labeled to have the most thc. .. I have recently come across some chemdog autos so I have 2 of them going along side my 10 AKR .. really hoping that this chemdog blows everything outta the water. I know I'm just being picky about taste and smell but whatever since I'm growing it I want what I want. Has anyone tried chemdog yet??

I was thinking more about a less-uniform UVB light source (to enhance tric development) and that it would be beneficial to expose the entire plant.

I never thought about the effect of rotating the plant. If I had thought about it, it would have seemed equally intuitive that "uniform exposure" is better. But, what you say makes a great deal of sense. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Back to UVB: Would it make sense to move the (clip-on) CFL every day to expose different sides of a plant? Would that relatively small and supplemental light moving around cause the problem you mentioned?

I'm just starting to experiment with UVB. (The reason I mentioned it here: I was thinking more resinous buds could affect dankness. Trying to stay on-topic with the OP's question.).

Been experimenting with a lizard UVB bulb and a reflector. One per plant. Covers one plant fairly well and rotate plants and/or bulb every few days for coverage.

Trichomes do look different. But, who knows. Will know per smoke/vape.

Rosenthal says in his book UVB is the best bloom booster--a natural one. Says plant ripening in mid-summer during peak UVB and sun intensity are high quality.

I have done white widow, think different, red dwarf and akr and only 1 plant has given me the dankness . I can't see why it's not there i don't think i have high expectations. Even if i buy mediocre bud it still has a dank smell and taste. Do you think it could be the auto flower itself that it doesn't produce the dankness?

I think with light movers because its always moving the plant doesn't really have the time to try to grow towards it as such, that being said the most intense light will come from directly above as the light passes over so branches from down low still grow up in an effort to get to the light... I find that in the course of doing nutes and topping up water adjusting ph my bucket lids get rotated all the time...

I got a light mover hoping that the 7watts or whatever it runs at will increase the efficiency of the lights that i have. I'm already pumping 1200+ watts into my tent, if i had 4 led's it would probably be awesome coverage of the whole tent but then i'd be pulling 1600+ watts. Jury is still out on light movers for me.

My tent smells dank as, but the popcorn i've lollipopped off the plants and dried out to smoke, smells like lawn clippings when its mulled up. Tastes pretty gnarly when smoked too...harsh from not being flushed n shit...but still has that skunky overture.

Suppose there is harvest dankness and then what we could refer to as "made made." LOL.

If dankness refers to stickness (fully ripe) and aroma then dankness at harvest is a result of the strain's genetics and all environmental factors.

RH seems to be a key aspect. I say "man made" being humorous--but, almost any canna can be place in jars with Bovida humidity packs. Once moister is incorporated and the buds age (chemical interactions) they do become what we refer to as dank-sticky and full of aroma.

Doubt if it is an auto issue. Most of us have had a dry looking bud that turned out to be excellent. Just depends on strain etc.

Some old time growers may hav some input.
