New Grower my bud isnt dank

So after taking down my last 3 AKR drying them and curing... I just wanted to say I got pungent dank smell and some chronic weed.. must have been just those 2 plants which are still good smoke.

U highly recommend AKR.. great yeild and smoke and easy to grow.:2cents:

OK so since my last post I probably have done around 30 AKR plants and all have been awesome except for the taste and the smell while it's burning it's just not what I want. Any advice would be good. Also I have gotten a new tent so they have more room and I can raise the light another 2 feet . Is it possible that the light system I have may be just too much for the plants in such a small space? Tent I had was 4x2x4 the new tent is 5x5x6 so I'm hoping that may do it because damit I want chronic all round chronic.

Chron, why are you only doing AKR? If it were me and I wasn't happy with the finished product, I would try another strain or two. It could just be something between you and the AKR. Maybe your vibes just don't jive. :-)

How do you cure? Are you working slowly to 61-65% RH and holding it there for 3 weeks? Do you use Boveda 62 packs to help? Keep the dry/cure process in the dark?

You could also try a UVB light. Get the small "ReptiSun UVB 10.0" CFL bulb for about $15 US. Put it on its own timer and turn it on during mid-late flower for 30 minutes per day at the end of the day. Increase the time while watching for any problems it may cause. (I just started using one and it seemed like leaving it on too long, maybe 3-4 hours, burned my fan leaves. But, I have a couple other "issues" going on. So, I don't know. Without someone else telling you a longer period is safe, I'd recommend starting at 30 minutes and working up.). Also, rotate the plant so different parts get exposure from day to day.

I've been growing Northern Storm Auto from marijuana-seeds.nl. I'm finding this to be a hardy strain, takes heavy feeding, bounces back from problems. I got 6+ ounces (dry) from my first 2 grows. My third had problems due to acidic soil -- but it fought the good fight with me and has bounced back in an amazing way. I'm looking at 3-4 ounces.

Anyway, that stuff is dank. After 3 weeks of curing at 61-65 RH, it's just frosty white. I have friends with high levels of tolerance who say "I'm done" after a couple hits. You could try growing one of these and see if your experience is strain dependent or peculiar to something about your growing/curing method.

Tent size or light has nothing to do with taste or smell. 1) I would try a different medium or cleanse the plant a few days longer. 2) Or, worst case scenario would be to use a flavored flush additive to hide the taste and smell, but I would go with option 1. maybe another 5 day of straight tap water.

IMO you need to flush longer 10-12 days. I've gotten great results in the smell/aroma department from mediocre genetics. Also don't forget to ph your water! Regards

im aware some people turn their plants and they "think" it does good

however , when you turn your plant it then uses the energy to turn leaves and even branches towards the brightest light source , when you turn it the next day it wastes that energy doing that all over again

do not follow instruction from someone who has been growing for a "few" years as they prolly learned all their mistakes from the internet and think those mistakes are good

peace

SPOT ON b0b!!! Gotta show you some love for that tid bit!!! Not many folks get that about expended energy on cannabis plants!!!.....the plant doesn't rotate in the ground outside either!!!
