Here is my Lactobacillus Serum. I mixed 1ltr with 1 kilo brown sugar.

I gave it a good shake to mix the sugar & lacto

There's still a little sugar in the bottom. I'll shake it again tomorrow.

I also squeezed the bottle so there is very little air inside and tightened the cap.

Sorry I forgot to take pics before I put the sugar in. It was a yellow color fluid.

Hey if it doesnt work out you might have some decent beer lol, if nothing else you can make whiskey..

I decided I didn't like the 2ltr bottle so I moved the lacto into 6 old nutrient bottles that I washed very well. I even included mixing instructions because ill be giving away at least 3 bottles.
If I'm correct, each one of these bottles should make 16 liters of lacto serum that will be used at a rate of 1 - 2 tblsp per ltr.

I made cal phos last night. I used eggshells, seashells, and deer antler. I blackened some of it in a skillet. The antler was almost impossible to crush.
I used a total of 1/2 cup of the listed ingredients and 5 parts vinegar (2.5cups). It bubbled like crazy and when it finished I capped it. I'll let it sit for 20 days then strain and use.
Pic later.

I have a question about re-using soil. When I flush it to wash out old nutrients can I use water straight from the tap and wait a few days to mix my amendments? Will the chlorine evaporate from the soil or should I let the water sit out for 24 hours first?

You have to get a water report from your council or whatever. Lots of water treatment plants are being upgraded to use chloramine instead of chlorine, its chlorine mixed with ammonia. It works out cheaper for your water authority but not good for us.

The official advice regarding hydroponics with chloraminated water is DONT USE IT !

With soil they say it's fine, but my water is chloraminated and it smells like swimming pools ... i hate bathing in or drinking it :(

And you can't remove chloramine with standing or leaving in the sunlight, so watch out you hydroponics growers, maybe i should post this seperately in the hydro section as a warning!

Also, i'd love to know the difference between using the organic compost i use (Plant Magic Soil Supreem Plus, a UK compost), the organic nutes i use from the same company and someone who brews their own teas and mixes their own soil ?

I thought of myself as an organic grower until i started reading the threads in this section, which make me feel a bit supermarkety ;+}

Cheers,

steely

I made some calphos not too long ago, mixed a quarter of a cup of the sells with 2.5 cups of apple vinegar and the bubbles exploded on me. Shot straight out of the top of the jar.

Thanks for the advice. I checked with my landlord and it turns out its actually well water.
As long as the nutrients you buy are organic then you are an organic grower. I just enjoy the process of making the nutrients and learning how/why they work. It's quite fun actually.

I picked up some bananas, pineapple, and carrots today. I put them all in the food processor (2lbs total) with 2lbs brown sugar. I'll be fermenting for about 10 days and trying it as a bloom booster. I'm hoping the pineapple will also work as a flavor enhancer or sweetener.

I'll be making several different batches with different ingredients to see what works best. In the spring/summer ill also add flower blooms.

Watch out this WILL make ethanol, methanol and many more sprits kind of like a wine.

This an awesome thread! Wish I had the time to do these type of things, but as I age Im sure it will come.
