New Grower my seeds wont grow

Hi I just need some help maybe im doing something wrong?
I germinated 2 seeds and planted them about quarter inch and its been 5 days now and nothing
What could I be doing wrong? This is my first grow I have a 2x4x4 mylar tent with 270watt chrome bs and 2x 135 watt bs ufo. I am using primix soil in 3 gallon potts. Could it be possiable my light is to close im using the 270 chrome right now and its about 10 inches from the soil.

Don't give up yet. I've had some take a week or longer to germinate. How are your temperatures? Cold temperatures are a big reason why seeds sometimes don't germinate. Weed likes temps in the 75 - 80 degree range for good germination. Unless you need to lights for heat, they really aren't necessary till the seeds have sprouted. Once they sprout, set you lights at 16 - 20" and raise or lower them to keep your node spacing, the space between leaf sets, at about 1".

How did you germinate them? I usually soak mine in water for 24 - 48 hours till the seeds crack and the white tap roots starts to emerge. Then into the soil, 1/2" deep.

Ya maybe im excited a little bit , im keeping the faith but I also started to germ 2 more seeds today just incase lol im using the paper towel method which worked fine for me. The temp is right at 76 so its great temp and everything. I just hope I manage to be able to grow coz I spent close to $1500 so far for my set up n seed and shipping lol
Again thanks for the input. One question how much water should I give it while waitinf for the seed to pop?

You'll be able to grow, you just have to get over the learning curve at first. Investing a lot of money in a project isn't going to help you learn any faster, if it did I'd be way better than I am and Ms Piggy would be less pissed every time I try to sneak in the door with a new grow toy

Don't get discouraged if everything doesn't go right in your first few grows, that's par for course.

That's a soil temp of 75 - 80, not air temp. Soil temps usually run a bit lower, especially if the pots are sitting on a cold floor. A heat mat under the pots can be useful, especially with the winter months approaching.

I usually water my pots completely the day before I plant the seeds. Then I mist them a couple times a day to make sure the top 1/2" of soil doesn't dry out. You want the soil to be moist, not overly wet.

I didnt soak the pots completly I just water a little but I have now added more water to wet it I have been doing the misting
I live in a condo so my floor are some what warm but since ur coment ihave put a thermal blanket under the tent I hope that helps.
Its like watching a pot and waiting for yhe water to boil I suppose lol

Just an update... only 1 of the 3 seeds sprouted up. I figured out what the problem was and that was my thermometer wasnt working properly the temp was way high. So now the 1 plant I have is small maybe 6 inch tall but really leafy full of foliage. I am just waiting for it to grow in hight... is this normal?
