Hey all! It's time for some good old soil building :headbang:

Alright, so this is my first go at organics. I am all in and have invested in my future as a farmer. I have sourced out some top grade soil and compost locally, as well as getting my vermicompost going. Got a whole bunch of good stuff to add to the compost pile as well.

While my (large) new batch cooks, I want to have a go at an organic type of no till grow. Use some teas and top dress to get me through flower. I already gave away my fox farms trio sooooo.....it's too late to go back!

My mix for this grow:

60 gallons of soil (approx enough for 6 ten gallon pots)

Base: 30 gallons Malibu's Baby Bu Biodynamic Soil

Add: 15 Gallons coco coir, 10 gallons EWC, 5 gallons Bio Char

For aeration I will be adding pumice, lava rock and maybe some rice hulls at 20% or so

Other additions: Kelp meal, alfalfa meal, neem cake meal, azomite, oyster shell flour, Bio Live (down to earth) sea bird guano, green sand.

I plan to add these at half the recommended amount because the Bu's soil is already pretty well rounded. I will also be brewing up a tea to jump start the microbial activity, and maybe add some red wigglers.

So what do you think? Was gonna let it cook two weeks, then plant seeds directly into soil. Maybe clear out a solo cups worth of soil and add plain bag soil mix for starting the seeds.

Well, here goes nothing. Or something. Hopefully :smoking:

that Bu's soil is a water only veggie soil ? Ive looked a t afew lately and catn recall.but i remember looking at it and its a nice soil. if its FOR actual fruiting plants it'll be fine. with neem imho Kanja cake is always a great thing to add. works like two vitamins complimenting one another.Bokashi and frass. bokashi and the cake are prolly the best imho to add. but AS IS? imo it'll be fine depending on the amounts and if left to cook or blend and build n grow for 40 days or better it'll be better imo. and dont forget the Lime :)

ok well,I just got done re looking at it and imo it'll need to be boosted.it seems like a lighter feeding soil like a Dr Earth for example. well the black bag anyways. so depending on the amounts you were thinking of adding you may want to add a little tick more due to that IF Im correct about the soil. Great Stuff from looking at it though. I'd buy it absolutely :)

Yeah the Bu's is what I intended on using as water only straight outta the bag, with a few amendments. Then i started to read up more on the organics and soil building and composting. Now I am looking at blending the bu's 50/50 with some local product. A company sells composts here in town called Tank's Green Stuff, its derived from 30% dairy manure and 70% landscape waste. Only 39$ for a cu yard, or 27 cu ft LOL so I am looking at mixing that with the bu's and maybe some extra coir and EWC. Along with the pumice and biochar for aeration.

As far as amendments, i don't want to make it too hot. I have neem cake meal, gypsum, oyster shell meal, alfalfa meal and kelp meal. Along with some DTE Bio Live which contains some of these so is redundant and I may not use it.
Gonna try for a 3 or 4 week blend and chill period. Then plant straight to soil. Go light, 1/4 to 1/2 recommended amount on added stuff. And give it a nice mulch for the worms!
