Need a KISS organic soil recipe for autos

Yes its a conplete mix and each order will do 2 / 5 gallon pots and have a little left over. You mix it with roots organics soil for best results add in a few hand fulks of worm poop..... the top half will be un amended soil and the bottom half contain the mix.

You can email @mephisto for more details or @gbd can give the the specifics its been a while i forgot the exact mix ratio...

Its a quality no hastle mix... just bubble your tap for 24hrs and pour it in as needed from seed til harvest.

Cool Thread!!! :nicethread: I recently started using Ancient Earth for humus. Also, I need to do a top dressing on 5 outdoor plants and I have a few amendments like kelp, blood, and bone meal. Jamaican bat guano, olster shell, lime and a mineral supplement called MICROMITE. I've used the Micromite once this year as I was using amended soil and didn't have rock dust this spring. Also, the micromite really pushed up the ph. Don't mean to hyjack the thread and any suggestions can be pm's to me ... Thanks! :baked:

Thanks for the recommendation! It's actually enough to fill the bottom half of four 5 gallon pots! Even more bang for your buck!

I have used the GBD/Mephisto mix several times now in a few different styles now too. many like to layer,I personally have NOT used the layer technique , EVER lol but like they all say if you use it similar to myself I have always had BANG ON results too. instead of the layer use the same amount and mix it up entirely through the amount of soil or that single pot. or get a 1.5CF amendment pack and add it to the 1.5CF bags of roots,dr earths whatever and mix well and then pot up without lkayers. works for be beautifully and a cpl tea dn some mammoth P through flower POW instant awesome cheap and Simple as you want really. the others require you to blend or cook your soil.this is a simple organics granular mix. works nicely!!

I use MG soil amendments, but would like to add Mammoth P. When you use Mammoth P with the MG super soil mix do you still pH?

Mammoth P won't effect your PH. If for whatever reason you HAD to PH before, I'd say continue.

I’d just start with the basic Coots Mix:

Base:

1/3 Compost and/or EWC

1/3 sphagnum peat

1/3 aeration

Additional Base Additions of 1/2 cup per 7.5 gallons/1 cubic foot:

50%/50% Neem/Karanja cake (KIS Organics)

Kelp meal Kelp4Less)

Crustacean meal

3 cups ground malted barley per cubic foot of soil. This carries you through veg. During flower, 1/2 cup per week per plant and water in well.

Mineral Ammendments: at rate of 4 cups per 7.5 gallons/cubic foot:

Basalt

Glacial rock dust

Gypsum

Oyster shell flour

I was using dolomite lime but after a discussion with Tad Hussey from KIS Organics, I’ve switched to Ag Lime, oyster flour and gypsum. There’s too much magnesium in dolomite and that can cause soil compaction and some other issues. I might mix in a few tablespoons of it in per cubic foot but not as much as you suggested.

Just as important as having all the major and minor nutrients in your soil is having a BALANCED soil. It’s not good to just chunk a ton of amendments together Willy-nilly in whatever proportion you feel like. Coots recipe is tried and true and a great place to start; and fits your KISS criteria.

I highly recommend the KIS Organics series of podcasts which include several with Clackamas Coot and one with Jeff Lowenfels.

Good luck and happy growing!

MG. Miracle grow? yeah it works but Id stay away from that personally. KIS organics and coot's mix from Build a Soil are excellent. there are a few mixes out there thatll do rather well for you,.Id recommend KIS because thats what I personally use more often than not. Living soil is alright but a far cry from KIS or coots IMO
