New Grower Need help picking nutes and soil

Just keep on mind that autos don't like hot soil when there seedlings. If you soil is to hot you'll stunt them and diminish the harvest greatly. Hope you find what your looking for! :karma Cloud:

^agree with that...hot soil is a no-no unless it's layered under something mellow like Sunshine #4 or Fox Farms Light Warrior. You can also look into the "tiered" transplantation method if you want something hot as a base. Also remember, if you go organic you need an RO anyway, or you need to bubble your water for 24-48 hours to remove the chlorine and bromine that will kill your microherd. Great tasting cannabis is all about great tasting water, so in my mind an $80 investment to pull 2-6 oz of primo bud...that RO pays for itself if you hook up 1 buddy with 1 1/4oz for $80 ;-)

Hi everyone this is my first time here and I'm about to start my next auto grow but I can't figure out what nutes and soil would be best for me.im still a new grower and nutrients are still a bit confusing to me.so I'm looking for a soil that is high quality but easy to maintain.and for nutrients that have a simple feeding schedule and only has 2 or 3 parts.ive looked all over and I'm staring to go crazy because there so many choices.biobizz seems like a good company does any have any experience with them?i am open to all suggestions and any help is greatly needed and appreciated.

hello b&d,

as a newbie myself, i recommend using a lightmix soil (i use plagrons lightmix as it has enough nutriments for the first week or so without addition of nutes and has a lightweight composition including coconut fibres for good airation) and a specially dedicated fertiliser for autoflowering plants such as bio nova supermix autoflower, i started nutes from the 3rd day from growth and watered every 2 to 3 days, depends on your climate. The supermix is to be used in conjonction with pk 13/14 from the 3rd to 4th week of growth (preflowering periode) both right until the end. So just 2 nutes to feed your plants with is very easy and they cost about 20€ each 1litre bottle. You can follow my thread on using this nute by clicking on my signature.

Hope this can help.

peace

Thanks for all the quick and detailed responses they are greatly appreciated espicialy low and slow. But I'm wanting to stick with soil.and im looking for something thats kind of hot so i dont have to feed for the first month or so.and I'm kinda on a budget so a RO unit is out of my price range. Ive noticed that organics seem pretty simple but Im not sure what brands are good and easy to get on the USA.i need to keep it a simple as possible because I can get short on time.thanks and again for the quick replays and the warm welcome.

Organics aren't that simple to dial in - once dialed in, the concept itself is simple but before dialing the mixture in - it's not very simple at all. You don't want something hot for seedlings, you're growing autos not photos so you have no recovery time. The lighter the better for seedlings. I'd go with ProMix and Sensi Grow and Bloom A+B Ph Perfect from AN. It won't give you the best of the best results, but it will take a lot of the worry and guess work out of a first grow. Use 50% the recommended dosage on their feed calculator.

Here is my current setup and strains for next grow

3 dp think different 1 dinafem haze 2.0 auto and original amnesia auto and 1 world of seeds big bud x northern lights in a 4x4x6.5 grow tent under cfls for first 2 weeks and then under a 400w mh for another 2 or 3 weeks and the switching to 400w hps (with a few added cfls) for the rest. With a 240 Cfm extraction fan and other osilating fans for circulation.

Start off under the 400W MH - don't start off under CFLs for two weeks, that's a waste. Just keep the MH 24" off the tops of the little ones for the first week and a half then bring it down to 18".

Fans sound good! Any carbon filter?

Thanks again for the help.i was planning on buying a hot base and doing the tiered party cup method like low and slow mentioned.because ive read its bad for seedlings.sorry I forgot to mention it earlier I'm still new to this whole forum thing lol

I have read alot people say they use promix and AN but idk if I can get them in my area and sometimes shipping can be more than soil costs and nutes cost so ill have to see what my hydro store has. And I've herd AN can get expensive is this true? I've got about a 120$ right now to get air pots soil and nutes so idk if AN is in my price range rite now.Much apreciated i will definitly skip the cfls. Thanks but No I wish I had a carbon filter lol but I'm on a low budget right now so a diy ONA bucket scrubber I the best I can do till I upgrade lol.

an base nutes will run you about $60 for all 4 bottles.

whatever nutes you choose www.thehydrosource.com always has free shipping on all nutes. they carry pretty much every line too.

how bout this then... what soils DO you have available without turning to the net?

Roots organics cons:
-Fungus gnats E-VRY-WHERE!
-pH in bag 1 was 4.5; bag 2 was 7.8
-Too much dolomite, not enough other forms of calcium
-Doesn't finish a plant indoors unless you put it in a HUGE pot
-Doesn't respond well to fertilizers.

Roots Organics pros:
-constituent of Subcool's supersoil recipe
-works fine heavily amended, pH balanced, and de-bugged (spinosad/neem/dunks/azomax/etc.)
