Color spots

Ok having some color issues on one of my plants. The yellow looks like nutrition burn. Which could be because of the MG soil mix it is in. The other issue is that it seems like I'm getting some dark spots on some of the fan leaves. What is that from and what can I do about it???? Please help.

I'm new to the forum, but not to growing so much, although I'm usually in a hydro setup. I'd say both color issues are from burn. Maybe N toxicity locking out P and causing the darkening. Not 100% sure, but I'd bet the farm it's burn from the MG. My solution would be to either flush it like crazy or transplant out of the MG. If the plant is already pretty stressed flush would be my first choice.

Im not the best at trouble shooting, so I couldn't tell you exactly what is going on. My best guess would be nute burn, with the darkening and crisping of leaves. She looks like she is still growing so I wouldn't really say lock out. Now that she is getting bigger the soil wont be so harsh and the problem may go away. I would just keep an eye on my ph, then sit back and let her do her thing.

I don't know what to tell you in this case bro. Those dark spots are definitely from an excess of N and that small amount of white around the edge of the one leaf looks a little like lockout but not burn. Burn will normally start at the tip and progress inward and would also be showing on the new growth, which it isn't.

Here is what I am thinking and maybe it will help you make your mind up about how to progress. The older leaves do look dark but it isn't that bad. The new growth actually looks pretty good. You really have two options, you can flush and may be able to get some nutrients out of the soil but I don't think it will help too much because we aren't dealing with chemical nutrients you have added. Those would be easy to flush, these nutrients I believe are more soil based and going to have to break down over time. Or, you could continue to water and hope for the best and not add anything to it. This is the path I would probably take, just keep watering and try to let the plant work through the high nutrient levels because she isn't burning yet. If she does start burning then I would begin flushing immediately but at this point I don't think it helps you much. I don't know much about soil and haven't dealt with MG soil at all so take what I say with a grain of salt. I am just thinking aloud about how I would handle the situation if it were me. It may or may not be the best scenario for you. Best of luck.

As for the ph meter, there are several and it all depends on how much money you want to spend and how reliable you want it to be. To me, Blue Lab makes the best, by far. I own a Hanna 98129 because they are very reliable and about half the price. That being said, I am looking at upgrading to a Blue Lab in the next few weeks because they are a much better meter for another $100. But, the 98129 is an exceptional meter as well for ~$80 and will work just fine. It just needs to be cleaned and calibrated quite often to keep it accurate.

Thanks A4. I will stay with the water option. Right now I have only been watering once every 6 or 7 days. You think I should water more and maybe help wash the nutes out. Or would that hurt it more

No, I would just water as needed. Don't let the soil dry out but don't water too often either. Both are pretty bad for the plant. Too much water more often will cause root problems.

So I'm looking at nutes. So far I have Alaska fish fertilizer and then my friend gave me ferti-line Yield Booster and General Hydroponics Floralicious Plus. I never heard of the last two. Has anybody out there used any of these or heard of them????? Please let me know as I'm getting close to starting to feed my plant. Thanks

Okay, your'e gonna feed them,what about P.H.? You really need to understand how IMPORTANT a p.h. meter is.With the best intentions in the world, you'll do your plant no justice without a meter, especially if your new to growing.If your serious about growing,get a meter, otherwise you'll struggle.
