Into a quart of non pHed R O water I add Cal Mag, Epsom Salt and at times use Superthrive. That combination gives me a little above 300 ppm on a TDS meter. This is what I'm wondering: The manufactures feeding instructions call for 200 to 400 ppm. Should I subtract 300 ppm from the 400 ppm and only use 100ppm worth of nutrient? Should I forget about the 300 ppm derived from Cal Mag, Epsom Salt and at times Superthrive? Or do I mix my nutes at 400 ppm?

Thanks for your help,

Juan

Are you using Cal-Mag AND Epsom Salts in the same batch of nutrients?

Ideally a Cal-Mag feeding when you're feeding veg or bloom nutes is reduced, most two part formulas have some micro/macro nutrients in them and that's something to keep an eye on, even with RO water. Epsom Salt serves the same purpose as Cal-Mag though and feeding both at the same time is kind of redundant. How far along are the plants as well? 200-400PPM is only for weeks 1-2 typically and at that point an abundance of Cal-Mag really isn't needed, a smaller dose per gallon would work fine.

To clarify, no you don't want to "ignore" the PPM created by the other additives, it's all important - adjusting the level of the additive down is a better idea. Drop the Epsom Salt!

Hey, thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
