Live Stoner Chat Nevada Prohibition is over - Out of the grow closet!

@archie gemmill - Zones are used for outdoor gardening and reference the typical low temperatures that the area receives.

The desert is a harsh environment and just another form of gambling in Nevada. Thanks for the info on the northern grows.

@BigSm0 Thank you, you are defiantly correct about it being the best canna forum. I have been trolling lots of forums, trying to educated myself about autos and the members of this forum are really passionate about this plant. It is so awesome to have a place to come geek out about plants and growing.

Hello fellow gardeners! What a wonderful time in history to be alive and to be a part of the change in attitude towards cannabis. With the passing of Question [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG], the legalization of recreational cannabis, in November, as of January 1, 2017 - I am allowed to grow due to the fact that I am 25 miles away from a dispensary. I am allowed to have up to 6 plants per adult, two adults at my home - 12 plants. There is no external way to enter my fenced in backyard, so that stipulation is covered too.

I could start a indoor grow but I really do not have the space. However, I have an established organic veggie garden, compost pile and lots of red wigglers. I have a 90 day growing season with cool mornings and hot days. I get lee wind gusts up 40 mph, occasional thundershowers with hail and the potential for the first freeze over Labor Day. Hence, why I am choosing autoflower strains and joining this forum.

I start planning my garden in January when the seed companies start sending catalogs. I envision the day when I get cannabis seed catalogs in the mail, but for now, I shop on line and learn form others. So thanks to all that have posted in the past!

Grow ON! -Cayenne

Hey bud!! We have been talking already, but I wanted to add a bit more with the information in this thread. First of all 12 plants woohoo!!

I deal with very similar conditions with wind. Most autos I have grown outdoors are very, very stout plants with very strong main trunks and secondary branches. I have yet to get a secondary branch broken from wind. The biggest struggle I can see you having is the daily heat you guys must get. As most companies don't do much outdoor testing it will be a gamble what strains will do well in extreme heat. Biggest thing to try avoiding is cooking the roots, try putting light coloured medium(straw) as a top dress which will not absorb the suns rays like a dark coloured top medium will. It will also help stop "splash back" when it rains hard and gets dirt all over lower buds.

Sounds like relative humidity should not be an issue for you at all. Due to this it will all be about finding strains that can tolerate extreme heat and daily cool temps. I would give a Dutch Passion Auto Ultimate a try. Nice smoke, tolerates cool weather fairly well, and it loved the record heat we had last summer where it was over 28degrees Celsius for over 30 days in a row. And monstrous yields for an auto, but they do seem to go 100 days outdoors. I'd also consider the Daiquiri Lime from Dutch Passion. Large plant that takes heat and cold very well(I grew just a single plant last year of the Daiquiri). Great smoke and second best auto yield of the season(Ultimate was the highest).

Companies you should have a look at...Dutch Passion, Bomb Seeds, Dinafem, Sweet Seeds, Mephisto, Autoflower Portal. There is soooooo much quality in those 6 breeders.
