Lighting new GN Units

Love to see the new development in tech. Lil pricey for me right now but loving the idea of quieter more reliable cooling device. Looking forward to US model

Congrats on the release GN.:Sharing One:
I do have a few questions in regards to this quote..

"The LED module and cooling solution are powered by a 2015 Philips Xitanium Digital driver. The new Digital drivers combines intelligent data handling and smooth, precise drive. Unlike traditional AC/DC led drivers, digital drivers can diagnose, adjust and automate the entire LED system. So for example your grow rooms ambient temperature is rising beyond a safe limit, the driver will dim the LED's so the light stays on but the LED module and driver stay protected from overheating. Each Holographic series light has its own digital address and can as send data bi-directionally allowing up to 64 units to communicate down one bus to a single command centre. This allows you to remotely dim and turn off multiple scenes of lights or individual lights and request diagnostics of temperature, power consumption, run time etc. "

Does this mean that I will be able to connect to the unit via ethernet cable to diagnose any issues the unit may be experiencing?
Is there a brand of existing software that this will work with?
Or will there be an OEM software package available?
Does this also allow for remote control/monitoring of the unit over the internet via handheld devices?

If the unit automatically dims the leds to keep it from overheating, how would a grower know that the unit is running at a dimmed level if they don't have the ability to run a diagnostic on it?
My concern is how would a grower know that the ambient temps are too high for the unit.
One could be running the unit through an entire grow at reduced levels without knowing it.

I look forward to your 120v release.
Any info would be greatly appreciated,
Ronin

(I'd appreciate responses from GN only)

Hey Ronin,

Great questions, the new light can be connected to a bridge/command centre via the blue data connector on the back of the light (up to 64 lights per command centre) The command centre then can be connected to a computer direct via USB or through zigbee (Requires zigbee dongle) to run diagnostics, dimming, on/off etc.

There are two existing software packages for this depending on the bridge used and they will be free to download when the command centre is released. The protocol used to control the lights is DALI there are already many DALI dimmers, bridges and software packages available that will be able to control the dimming levels of the new lights in scenes down a single bus whether or not they can recall the diagnostics and change power levels for individual lights i'm not sure and would assume most can't.

So how do you know if your light is automating the power level, quite simply you can just read the temperature of your grow room from a thermometer. Once the ambient grow room temperature (not the temperature of the LED module or driver) hits 40C° and continues to climb the light will very gradually start dimming. In extreme environments this setting can be raised on request to start its dimming at 50C°.

If the thermal pad temperature is allowed rise to a certain point the LED's relative intensity will droop at an accelerated rate, therefore lowering the current to the LED's at high temperatures to maintain a lower temperature will maintain the overall efficiency of the system. I guess the other way of looking at it is if your grow room rises to the ambient temperature of 40-50C° (the max ambient temperature for the modular series) and your light doesn't protect itself against overheating then it will break.

We think this is fantastic feature one of many which we will keep adding info about on the AFN over the next week.

Hi Grow Nothern, as far as understand ZigBee is a wireless protocol. Does the light need some sort of dongle or is there wireless hardware built in??

edit:

I think I might answered my own question. Im guessing, the extra connector on the side is a bus interface, the command controller will be sold separately and plugged in if you need diagnostics.

Im a embedded computer hobbyist, and this new devolopment with your lights has me wetting myself.
Is anyone else on here in too building Pi based hydro monitoring systems (with a view too some automation in the future). If so a new thread might be needed.

Nice one Gn, as with your previous lights/upgrades I will be investing when I get home from holiday at the start of March
Been using rebel upgrades in my 006 and noticing a big difference in yield

All the best guys (and save a couple for me ;-)

Does it come with one of these??

It's a great honour for me to show you guys the first HS1 in action,I was very fortunate to get this little beauty delivered a few hours ago and it really is little, the first thing you notice when unpacking is the sheer size of it.....its 230mmx210mmx55mm thick and 66mm if you include the Diffuser....thats the second thing that jumps out,it looks like nothing I've seen on a grow light and clips on and off with nice strong magnets. I believe there are several diffusers including a standard 80 degree diffuser for all stages a 60 degree diffuser for if your using units angled onto 1 plant (something I can't wait to try) or want to focus the light onto a small space and rectangular shape casting diffusers to tailor fit a room.
The overall feel and look screams quality to me,it feels like it's worth some money if you know what I mean, really well made.
Hanging the unit centrally wasn't difficult and the off centre design isn't an issue. The power cord connector is different to any I've used before too and has a very solid feel when clipped in,the wago port is next to that.
Turning the unit on was very exciting after such a wait and WOW not only is it incredibly bright but the light has perfectly even spread with no hot spots or colour patches,it's really quiet too and I couldn't hear it at all when in the grow room I had to turn it on in a silent room to be able to hear the quiet hum it makes. Overall very impressive bit of kit.

I have this light over my 2 Mephisto girls and there will be another HS1 added next week to grow the 2 brand new DP autos....Auto Euphoria and AutoBlackberry Kush, diary coming soon.

Sweet jesus, being able to swap and choose the diffuser is a simple yet unique and useful feature. Can I ask, dose it have 1 Wago port, or is there 2 so you can chain the lights??

There is 1 port but I know these were designed to be linked too.
