New Grower new grow Dr feelgood, part 2 or 3 time is a charm

Good catch, that actually makes a lot of sense if you think about what distilled water is. I will need to start researching soil adjustment, just hope its not to late!

just came across this and thought id put it up for discussion ( not my opinion, just found it and got more confused ) everything below is not me!

ive been reading through alot of threads posted by soil growers asking for diagnoses on there nutrient deficencys not that i am claiming to be an expert as we learn something new everyday i take a look anyway to see if i can be of any use

something what i have noticed alot of new soil growers doing is adjusting the PH of there nutrient solution before feeding there plants which is potentially doing your plants more harm then good because it could be causing nutrient lockout which shows up on your plants as a nutrient deficency then they over feed and add more nutes

"You shouldn’t worry too much about your water pH and we don’t recommend pH adjustment of water for soil/compost plants. Many soil growers still make the mistake of adjusting their pH when growing in soil but there really is no need – you could even be damaging your plant and its potential yield. The nutrient availability pH range is much wider in this organic environment than in hydroponics and the introduction of acidic pH adjusting liquids into these environments is neither necessary or desirable". that is a quote ive taken from a reputable hydroponic store check out there blog for more tips on soil growing i posted this quote and link for people who may still be sceptical if this is true or not to start u on ur new research to confirm this info

ive done alot of soil grows and never adjusted my nutrient ph with great results i will start a journal soon for people to view first hand i have always bought a soil that has a stable PH 6.5 is ideal for soil which should be stated on the soil bag and if it is a good quality soil it should stay stable for a crop cycle if not people add lime to adjust the ph of there soil so its the PH of the actual soil you want to check not ur feeding solution but i have never had to check my soil ph with a probe but if really want to u can

from this thread i am just trying to stress to new soil growers look into the soil your buying and leave the hydroponic ph up/down to one side

Confuses me too! That is one issue with being so new at all of this. I have been faithfully adjusting the pH of my water and feed water. I check my run off too. Goes in at 5.8 comes out 5.9. I have been fortunate that way. It always requires an adjustment downward. One thing I do notice is that the addition of the different things like CaMg+ or Supercharger can really change the pH. I checked the pH after each addition and it went back and forth so what does that say to that articles premise?? I know that the soil will buffer pH, but how much and for how long.... Yadda, yadda, yadda.... Well I guess that's what makes it fun and frustrating at the sam time.

agreed, I think in therory, the soil not needing adjusted ph outdoors may be true but I think when we are talking about growing in 1-3 gallon pots ( on average) that can only buffer so much, but I am pretty far away from being an expert. this grow has had issues almost weekly. I grew an ak plant last year with really no issues with out even adjusting my water. Iam glad that Im having problems right now because I have really learned a lot, just frustrating.

I have grown a fair few Dr Feelgoods this year as my female to male ratio in the 10 pack was good. Incosistant plant as in some were stunted dwarfs who took a long time to flower, others grew tall and then stopped flowering for a week to then start again at a slow pace. All of them have been consistent in size though it seems to fatten up in the last weeks. I had one who seemed ready at 70 days and i left her in dark for 48 hours to then suddenly have massive growth spurt with buds filling out even more with new pistils. Ended up harvesting at 90 days which then became a massive mould problem.

I have had to toss 3 DRFG due to mould. It seems to be prone to mould.

Not my kind of smoke tbh as its a cbd plant so everytime i smoked it i found myself falling asleep in no time. Not productive by any means.

Thanks bippo, in hind sight this dr feelgood was a little over my head but Im glad because of the education. im getting. thanks for the heads up on the mold issue ( if I get that far ). The whole reason I wanted to grow this strain was the cbd count, I have some low back pain and wanted to see if it helped.

It will help a lot with the back pain. Everytime i smoked the dr i felt so relaxed and not a single bit of pain (i suffer from arthritic pain and like you back pain) but i just didnt like falling asleep almost all the time. I gave the remaining stash to a mate and he said the same thing.

I honestly think Dr Feelgood is a frustrating plant to grow and not one for newbies. Its been the most challenging auto i have grown so far and the only one i have had massive mould problems with.

well, hopefully the autoflower gods are with me and I can salvage some of this plant. I dont think i will try another dr feelgood for a good long time

new update

hey folks, just the latest pics. the plant actually looks good, havent had any dead leaves in about a week and a half. i know some of the tips are yellowed but its no worse. Also the leaves are majorly sticky. almost felt like glue when I touched some leaves the other day. The last 3 waterings have been plain water. I just dont know enough to tell if it "looks hungry" or should I feed, or just more plain water. any advice on that is welcomed. photo (7).JPGdf028.jpgphoto (7).JPGdf029.jpgphoto (7).JPGdf030.jpg

p.s. I lost track of exactly how old the plant is, my educated guess is around 63 days or so and vertical growth seems to have stop.

You need to give her some bud booster and not just plain water. A tablespoon of black strap molasses should be good if you cant afford some bloom booster.
