Live Stoner Chat New grower

Agreed pop..If these 2 girls got any bigger i would have had to crop them. Better off with one or two for your first time. Soil is also more forgiving, esp with higher temps. Dwc roots like to be closer to 65f when possible. You'll often see people build the canopy and rez boxes separately with a hole for the stem so the lights don't heat the water.

Btw if temps become a big problem you can add co2 and with the right amount you can crank them up to 95f without a problem..but you'll have monster plants :-)

I have a 2x4x5 tent. I wish it was a foot taller. I also have a 400 watt HPS for it.
I have a good ventilation fan, a strong one and the temps are already threatening
to go into the 90s. In a week or two, this plant will be done, and I will stop til Sept
because of the heat.

What about setting up a frame in the closet to hang the lights and fan, and use the whole closet?
That would give you more space, and ventilation would be easier. Don't forget you need some
sort of opening to get air in there.

I started with one plant, I am still growing one at a time. I would suggest you start with one.
Lot less painful if you make a mistake. We all make mistakes... Then as you get a handle on how
to do this, you will have a better idea on what grow methods you like.

If you are going to use potting soil, I like the GO go box, you get enough to get
a few grows without spending a lot of money.

Don't go cheap on the fan. Get one with a rep for quality, and make sure it's rated for more space than you have. You are going to want to keep air moving. I have a Can Fan, but there's others.

If you use potting soil, and easy way to deal with this is a self-watering pot.
Pot plants get very thirsty in flower, so you will still water from the top. But
the reservoir really helps, and doesn't require the fussiness of hydro.

Dude you need to really think about that grow space.. with a 400 watt light and no cool tube you will need to be a minimum 18 inches above canopy and that's probably too close. It's going to be really tough to get them into such a short space, there's no way to get any more height in there? Good luck man, just trying to save you some trouble!

Well I could stay with the box...and change my lights to 400w CFL? or something different..

I could think about going with a tent..I can do a 36x36x63 tent in that space....

I dont know that much about it all, however i know even less when it comes to tents.

Heat is going to be a problem. I have my light in a hood, and the fan constantly pushes air
across the light, and heat is still a problem. I have seen guys complain of heat problems in
a space that small with a 250 watt light (but no hood).

One way to go is LED. It's expensive, but it doesn't produce a ton of heat.

If you put a 3x3 tent in there the air flow is going to be limited by the bends it has to make.
Have you figured out how you are going to get air in there? You don't usually need a fan for that
but my tent has a vent to let air in on 3 sides. In a closet, the back side won't get much air
because of the way air flows.

Here's one way to do this. Buy about 52 linear feet of 2x4. Then cut it into (8) 3'6" pieces and
(4) 6 foot pieces. Nail them together with some bracing (which will require more wood) to reinforce the corners and support the lamp and fan.

Then hang the light and fan. Run the ducting out the back like you planned, but you also need air intake. If you get ducting that is lined black, that will keep light from coming out. But you don't
want hot attic air coming in...

Sorry I even mentioned the tent, my bad. I like my tent, but I suspect the closet is not a good place for it.
