Hi folks, I've done a small batch of BHO (2 grams ish) into 1/3 cup of coconut oil, let it simmer for 8 hours (around 180 degrees), then added a tsp of beeswax granules, and let that get happy for an hour. That concoction is a SUPERB topical salve/lotion for muscle pain and tension! The beeswax gives it some holding power, and is a great skin softener.
We've used it for sore muscles, muscle spasms, dry skin irritation, and Lady Waxi used it on some lingering poison ivy, this past Spring, and the next day- it was GONE.
SO, the high concentrates, using small amounts of oil/wax, is quite effective.
Its important to keep the heat low, of course. I never go over 220 degrees F.
Best to y'all!
I went to using a double boiler, it actually gives better temp control than you might think. I've fiddled around with the stove burner setting ( damn electric stove but its what I have ) and by having the lower pan set tojust barely boiling I can keep a temp of about 195F in the top pan. I also usually heat up the batch of oil to temp by placing a jar lid in the bottom pan for the mason jar to set on. I fill the pan near full and boil it till the temp of the oil is about 190-195. I do this because, with only about an inch of water in the upper pan, it takes a long time to get the oil to cooking temp.
I'd love to make some QWET ( I have no desire to deal with purging Butane or ISO ) and make a little oil with it. Maybe a future project. My goal right now is to make enough QWET to use as RSO for my ladies MS treatment. The oil is helping some, but I think she really needs to do something close to RSO to get the real benefit. My shitty water has screwed up my grows fro months so I don't have the volume of material I need. I'm hoping now that I can make RO water, I can look forward to making enough QWET to make a 90 days supply of caps for her, so a minimum of a pound of bud.
